40 percent of Americans still believe in Creationism

Not surprising news. 40% believe the earth is 10,000 years old, even though science has proven it is billions of years old. It is an established scientific fact that Earth is approximately 4.6 billion years old and has undergone continual change; that life, according to the evidence of earliest fossils, appeared on Earth at least 3.8 billion years ago and has subsequently taken many forms, all of which continue to evolve; and that the genetic code of all organisms living today, including humans, clearly indicates their common primordial origin.

But superstitions die hard, and most of the people of Earth are still in tribal consciousness. Religious beliefs are tribal -- and, even in the more evolved religions, most do not question what they are told. It's evident that there are very few Christians who question the Bible and very few Muslims who question the Koran. The literal beliefs in scripture continue, even though many of the teachings are ridiculous to the thinking mind. People are kept in control by the religious authorities, who use fear and scriptures (many of which in Christianity were written well after the time of Christ--by who knows?) to their own advantage. We are not a very evolved species on this planet, which can be confirmed simply by noting our war-like natures, even though we are continually spouting aphorisms and philosophies of "peace" as taught in our religions. Hypocrisy, thy name is Earth human!

It seems it takes eons for a species to become intelligent. Judging by the fly-in-the-face-of-fact belief systems proliferating on our planet, most of Earth's population has not yet reached that level.

This is compared to only 34 percent among Democrats and Independents.
