Karl Rove: The Bush Family Taught Me Honesty… Choke. Gag.

The only ones who will be buying this ridiculous claptrap are those who voted for Bush & Cheney--and still support them. They are the proof that you can fool some of the people all of the time.

Karl Rove: The Bush Family Taught Me Honesty…

Who said Karl Rove doesn't have a sense of humor? He says he's been so privileged to work for both Bushes because of all the very important and serious qualities of life they taught him.

Think Progress:

Well I've been privileged to work for two men whose last name is Bush. George H. W. Bush and George W. Bush are two pretty remarkable men. And I've learned a lot from them, learned a lot about life, learned a lot about character, learned a lot about loyalty and trust and honesty and straightforwardness. Gasp. Choke. Gag. ERRRKKK.....

I guess Lee Atwater had nothing to do with it…

Atwater was a trusted advisor of U.S. Presidents Ronald Reagan and George H. W. Bush. He was also a political mentor and close friend of Karl Rove. Atwater invented or improved upon many of the techniques of modern electoral politics, including promulgating reputation-destroying rumors. His opponents have characterized him as the "happy hatchet man"[1] and "the Darth Vader of the Republican party".

In a February 1991 article for Life Magazine, Atwater wrote:

My illness helped me to see that what was missing in society is what was missing in me: a little heart, a lot of brotherhood. The '80s were about acquiring — acquiring wealth, power, prestige. I know. I acquired more wealth, power, and prestige than most. But you can acquire all you want and still feel empty. What power wouldn't I trade for a little more time with my family? What price wouldn't I pay for an evening with friends? It took a deadly illness to put me eye to eye with that truth, but it is a truth that the country, caught up in its ruthless ambitions and moral decay, can learn on my dime. I don't know who will lead us through the '90s, but they must be made to speak to this spiritual vacuum at the heart of American society, this tumor of the soul.

I doubt Rove will make a death-bed confession. (And the tumor of the soul continues....just look at the White House today!)

Neurologist's thought-provoking and heartfelt lecture on the nature of our being

As a Harvard-trained neuroanatomist, Jill Bolte Taylor has always known more about brains than most people. But when a blood clot triggered her own stroke, she suddenly had a front-row seat on the deterioration of the brain.

Dr. Taylor recounts the details of her stroke and the amazing insights she gained from it in a riveting
18-minute video of her speech at the Technology, Entertainment, Design Conference in Monterey, Calif., last month (Jan 2008). Her fascinating lecture includes a detailed explanation of the differences between the left and right sides of the brain...

Does the Constitution Mean Anything Anymore? NO.

I am in full agreement with this author. It is not surprising that the Republicans sat on their hands while the Constitution was being shredded. They voted for and continue to support the Idiot who is at the head of their party (and, sadly, our nation). But that the Democrats stood idly by and allowed this travesty to occur is beyond comprehension. Reid, Pelosi, and others of their ilk should be run out of office. TODAY.

Does the Constitution Mean Anything Anymore?
by Bill Hare March 13, 2008 - 6:46pm

Does the U.S. Constitution hold any meaning at all in today’s Bush-Cheney neoconservative Washington?

The answer that the politically alert are well aware of is that the answer is a loud and highly resounding “No”!

Why does the Constitution hold no current meaning? That answer is simple to those who have been paying attention. The Constitution holds no meaning because it has been replaced by Washington’s speedy new way of doing business.

For those who have not been paying attention the Constitution has been scrapped for executive decrees, so many of which are imposed by George W. Bush signing statements. Who cares what the letter and the spirit of legislation involves.

In the true spirit of “the King can do no wrong” all that is necessary is to provide a signing statement in determining what the neoconservative realm seeks to accomplish.

It was the right that used to accuse the left of moving too fast when it came to engineering government. Now things are super swift and decisive.

Take the case of Admiral William J. Fallon. Offer one piece of advice that runs against the neoconservative grain and, as they said in so many of those westerns Hollywood used to crank out, “You will be out of town by sundown!”

One of the few pieces of good news I have read recently is that the Deerfield Beach Democratic Club delivered an award this week to someone who has taken the Constitution to heart, Congressman Robert Wexler of Florida, a beacon of light in the Sunshine State amid Darth Vader-like creatures of darkness such as Jeb Bush and Katherine Harris.

Last night Newt Gingrich declared that he would love to see Jeb as John McCain’s running mate, calling him “one of the nicest and sincerest” people he knew. Naturally such a profound declaration was made on Fox News. Where else?

So we have super philanderer Newt, who sought to remove Bill Clinton from office for philandering while married, which Newt later admitted he was doing himself at the time.

So ethically conscious Newt salutes Jeb, known for cheating thousands of African American citizens of Florida, the state he governed at the time, out of voting for president in 2000.

The fact that Jeb’s wayward brother, the former heavy drinker who suddenly found religion, was running on a party label that Afro American voters did not fancy might have had something to do with Jeb along with Florida’s Secretary of State Katherine Harris engaging in this shameful act of vote deprivation.

Could they have been politically motivated? These church-going civil servants?

Congressman Wexler was saluted by the Deerfield Beach Democratic Club with a Backbone Award.

Yes, they used the word “Backbone” and in this rare instance it actually applied to a Democratic Member of Congress who believes in following the Constitution. Wexler is one of a rare handful to challenge the Bush-Cheney Criminal Enterprise in open hearings. Tune in on his website and you can see and hear him fight to uphold the U.S. Constitution.

Robert Wexler does not believe in letting stand without resistance a neoconservative dictatorship ruled by a military industrial complex that dictates to a glassy-eyed, severely retarded chief executive in name who, while over a million died in Iraq due to an invasion launched on a tissue of lies, tap dances and jokes, singing about his pardoning of Scooter Libby and “weapons of mass destruction.”

Reed, Pelosi and the rest of you, and you know who you are. The pathetic moron in the White House has every reason to laugh at the rest of you. He laughs because you have shirked the duty that Wexler and Dennis Kucinich honored, that of defending the Constitution by bringing charges against those who have shattered that document so that it no longer exists except as a sad memory of what used to be.

Jefferson and Madison would be proud of you, Reed and Pelosi, wouldn’t they? How proud they would be that you sat by and watched, doing nothing, while every semblance of representative government and the Constitution on which is was founded were summarily destroyed.

The toll is over a million dead in Iraq while the slaphappy joker in chief tap dances in the same oblivious manner that Hitler once did after he conquered France.

The British Labour Party had the collective backbone to throw one of their own, Tony Blair, out of the prime minister’s residence at 10 Downing Street after taking a long enough look at the wretched Downing Street Memos.

What about the Democratic Party in Washington? Ask Reid, Pelosi and their allies, who stood silently by while the Constitution was destroyed.

It is updated every five minutes. You can move the map around, zero in on any one area and actually up-load the story of what is going on.It is amazing when you can see the things that are happening right here in the U.S., sometimes right in your own state or even your city.

Republicans impeaching Spitzer?...

The Republicans love to impeach, as long as it's not one of their own. And they especially love to impeach for sexual transgressions. Starting a war on lies, allowing torture, shredding of the Constitution, taking away of civil rights--none of those are impeachable offenses in their eyes, as long as it is a Republican who is doing it--(even if he is a brainless idiot). They'd rather let the ship of state go down than take action against one of their own.

Hypocrisy is everywhere in politics--but Republicans are always rough and ready to drive the stake into a Democrat. Am sorry to say cowardly Dems will never take the same action against a Republican.

Having said that, I believe the hypocrite Spitzer should resign. He should have resigned yesterday. He must be thinking, "Well, look at what Bush and Cheney have gotten away with, and they're still in power." Sorry, Eliot, it doesn't work that way.

The star of this story is Harold Packman who is an 85 year old massage therapist - a perfect fit for his clientèle. Be sure to check out the video showing him putting his "magic hands" to work in the story below. Here's a snippet:

The results are startling. Nationwide, some 30% of nursing-home patients are put on antipsychotics, according to federal data, but Providence Rest has cut its own use down to 2% or 3%. That's the lowest rate of any nursing home in New York, and among the lowest in the country, according to the New York Association of Homes & Services for the Aging.

This Year Easter Is Early ... Once In A Lifetime ... Interesting

Early Easter this Year - Once in a Lifetime

I knew that Easter was very early this year, but I didn't know the following
interesting facts. Hope you also enjoy them.

Hey everyone!

Easter is always the 1st Sunday after the 1st full moon after the Spring
Equinox (which is March 20). This dating of Easter is based on the lunar

calendar that Hebrew people used to identify passover, which is why it moves
around on our Roman calendar.

Found out a couple of things you might be interested in! Based on the above,
Easter can actually be one day earlier (March 22) but that is pretty rare.

Here's the interesting info. This year is the earliest Easter any of us will
ever see the rest of our lives! And only the most elderly of our population
have ever seen it this early (95 years old or above!). And none of us have
ever, or will ever, see it a day earlier! Here's the facts:

1) The next time Easter will be this early (March 23) will be the year 2228
(220 years from now). The last time it was this early was 1913 (so if you're
95 or older, you are the only ones that were around for that!).

2) The next time it will be a day earlier, March 22, will be in the year
2285 (277 years from now). The last time it was on March 22 was 1818. So, no
one alive today has or will ever see it any earlier than this year!

3). Just hope that you are still around next month or you will miss the
event of your lifetime. Doubt that I'll stick around for the one on Mar 22
in the year of our Lord 2285.

The Clintons, a horror film that never ends

I agree with Andrew Sullivan, the author of this article. I always enjoy seeing/hearing him when he appears on Bill Maher's show, too. Although he often favors Republicans, he makes a lot of sense. I dread the thought of having to live through more Clinton years. Or Bush/Cheney years--under McCain. We need to sweep them all out the door and start over afresh.

WHY I CAN'T STAND ROVE & BUSH (and O'REILLY)

OH, HOW DIFFERENT THE STORY IS NOW!!! How Rove can keep a straight face with the twisted hypocrisy inside him is beyond my understanding! And O'Reilly gives him the platform from which to redo the spew they threw against McCain in 2000. Now, all of a sudden, McCain is a saint for adopting a child from Bangladesh. Back then, omigod, you wouldn't want to vote for a man who father a black child, would you? (Of course not, said the South Carolinians, thereby giving Bush the nod to proceed to the White House and 8 years of hell for the rest of us!)
The O’Reilly Factor: Karl Rove Points To McCain’s Adopted Daughter As Example Of McCain’s Worthiness

It is no longer possible to have your irony meter redline when Karl Rove appears on TV. He is so beyond the pale, so completely entrenched in his alternative reality that the only thing left to do is marvel at the brass cojones he must possess to pull off this appearance on The O’Reilly Factor. Now that the Bush administration has officially endorsed Republican nominee John McCain, Bush’s Brain tells Billo that there’s a lot about McCain that the public doesn’t know, and those things would impress them. For example, did you know that McCain adopted a dying baby from Bangladesh?
Download Play Download Play (h/t Bill W)
I don’t think people know a lot about him. They don’t know about his views and values that informed him as a young man. They don’t know about what drew him to service in the United States Navy. They don’t know about all of the compelling story about the POW experience that he had. They don’t know what motivated him, but what people and places in Sedona touch his life. Let me give you just one example: I think most of your viewers be shocked to hear the story about Cindy McCain in Bangladesh, visiting an orphanage, and she has a small dying child thrust into her hands and the orphanage…the people in the orphanage say we can’t, we can’t care for her, she’s dying, we don’t know what to do. And Cindy McCain’s impulse was to hold that…hug that child to her chest, get on an airplane and bring her home. When she got off the plane, there was John McCain, and he said, “What do you got?” and she said “I’ve got a child who’s dying, we need to get her help…we need to get her care.” And John said, “Well, who is she going to be staying with?” and Cindy McCain said, “I was hoping that she could stay with us.” And today, that young child–who was near death–is their teenage daughter. I don’t think most people understand the compassion and love that would come from a moment like that. There’s a lot more of John McCain’s story that he needs to tell.

Funnily enough, Rove felt that it was his job to tell McCain’s story about his daughter Bridget back in 2000, and the version he told then was significantly different:
Rove invented a uniquely injurious fiction for his operatives to circulate via a phony poll. Voters were asked, “Would you be more or less likely to vote for John McCain…if you knew he had fathered an illegitimate black child?” This was no random slur. McCain was at the time campaigning with his dark-skinned daughter, Bridget, adopted from Bangladesh.

Now, WHY ever would they be embarrassed?

McCain showed up late at the White House for his endorsement by the pretzledent -- and his web site doesn't even mention the endorsement at all! Neither does the Republican National Committee's web site.

My goodness....what is going on here? Surely they can't be embarrassed by their chosen leader? Nah...it must be some kind of quirk with their computers....
It’s almost as if they’re embarrassed by Bush

Download Play Download Play

As everyone has no doubt heard, John McCain stopped by the White House to pick up the president’s endorsement. As Dan Froomkin noted, however, some were far more interested in publicizing the meeting than others.

You’ll never guess who was the most excited about yesterday’s endorsement.
As of this writing, there’s no mention of it on the home page of McCain’s Web site. There’s no mention of it all on the Republican National Committee’s home page. In fact, I can’t find any mention whatsoever of the event on either Web site at all. (It’s like: Bush Who?)

But on the Democratic National Committee Web site, the lead headline blares: “Bush Endorses John McCain as His Successor.”

“Since the event was held in the middle of the afternoon we fear that some Americans may miss George Bush’s assurances that John McCain would continue the Bush Administration's failed economic and foreign policies,” the DNC explains. “As a public service we’ve posted a video of the press conference for voters to see.”

I wonder why that is?

What about the will of the people while Congress "stays the course"????

IMPEACHMENT should be pursued! NOW!!!

Disaster relief: Does anyone in Washington, D.C. really get what's going on?
by Alan Bisbort

George W. Bush is both out of control and out of gas, but nobody in Washington D.C. seems willing to pry the steering wheel from his cold dead hands. All indications are, in fact, just the opposite. That is, the Democratic Party seems collectively content to go into a stall offense, passing the buck back and forth until time expires. Democrats are already looking ahead to next year, when they seem almost certain to pad their totals in Congress and reclaim the White House.

At a hearing this week, House Appropriations Chairman David Obey (D-WI) explained this strategy to Bush's Education Secretary, Margaret Spellings, "If the administration doesn't want to deal, if they don't want to compromise ... then we're simply in a waiting game, and we'll deal with a president who does."
But what good is political power in a democracy if you lose your soul in the process of achieving it? In other words, how good can such a strategy really be, when it still leaves the nation up the proverbial creek without a paddle? As tedious (though sometimes understandable) as such stalling is to watch on a college basketball court, such a strategy is inexcusable in the world in which we now live. Here in Reality, the values of homes and retirement savings are plummeting, the climate is changing, people are uninsured and going insane (if this rash of mass shootings is any indication), costs are rising (am I the only person who noticed the spike in milk prices in the last week?), and an illegal war in Iraq is still sending Americans home in body bags.

Bush has an approval rating of 19 percent. He is loathed around the world and is fast approaching that status here. But here's the eight-year rub: What does anyone have to lose politically by confronting him? Conversely, what can you possibly gain from compromising with him? The answer to both questions is nothing.
Still, Congress is content to "stay the course." It's as if, in the face of a mounting disaster, we are being asked to buy plastic sheeting and duct tape, bend over, place our heads between our knees and kiss our asses goodbye. Though there has been a clear and present option to "compromising" or "stalling" with Bush — it's called impeachment — it remains steadfastly "off the table" (in Nancy Pelosi's memorably craven words).
Because Rep. Obey & Co. won't hold him accountable, Bush will continue to do what he has done for the previous eight years: fill the power void. He will abuse power for as long as he gets away with it.
It's safe to say that when the smoke clears on the Bush II years, no American president will be held in lower esteem than the Crawford Cowboy. Historians can chew over this cynical, power-mad man-child's nearly seamless series of failures, poor decisions and secret shenanigans.

But psychologists will simply shake their heads in dismay and wonder how this great nation could have been, for eight years, under the thumb of such a lost soul.

And, if that's what they'll be saying about Bush, what does that mean they'll say about the U.S. Congress, his greatest enabler?

With an opposition party in free fall, a president with a nearly unfathomably bad approval rating and — judging from the extraordinary increase in "new voters" generated by Sen. Obama's campaign — the American people clamoring for change, Congress is out to lunch.

MORE IMPORTANT NEWS: Better Buckle Up! - CheneyBush's Final 10 Months

http://www.crisispapers.org/essays8w/buckle-up.htm

EXCERPTS:
Americans were justifiably horrified when they saw recent hidden-camera footage on the nightly news of emaciated, scabrous cows being dumped into the food supply that winds up as hamburger meat in schools and prisons and who knows where else. According to Department of Agriculture regulations, those so-called "downer" cattle (those too sick or weak to stand) are not permitted to be placed into the public food-supply chain, for fear of passing on "mad cow" or other horrific diseases. Were the fines increased for meat-processors that skirt the rules? Their corporate owners shunned and contracts canceled? Nope.

Instead, last week, the CheneyBush Administration officially authorized the use of "downer" meat www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2008/02/28/AR2008022804117.html as fit for human consumption. A few more random inspections were ordered at meat-processing plants, but no systemic overhaul of the limited inspection protocols were devised to increase protection for the public.
"So you caught us red-handed bowing to the meat-processing industry," Bush&Co. seemed to be saying. "What are you going to do about it? Bugger off and get out of our face."
The CheneyBush Administration is probably the most secretive in U.S. history. It doesn't like anybody looking over its shoulder and knowing what it's up to, mainly because so much of what it's up to is either immoral, illegal or the result of massive corruption, often all three at the same time.

CheneyBush have been especially secretive about the many and various ways they've mangled and decimated the Constitution, especially in how the massive intelligence-gathering techniques available to it have been marshaled to data-mine and spy on American citizens. New technologies have enabled federal agents to secretly enter citizens' computers, read their personal email, tap their telephones, etc., without those victimized ever knowing. Such privacy violations are done, of course, in the name of "fighting the war on terrorism."

Yet, there are still people who support this administration. In one of the latest polls, Bush actually had a 19% approval rating. Hard to imagine who that 19% might be. Possible ad against Hillary should she become the nominee

Something to think about. If Hillary prevails and is the nominee, we can expect tons of negative accusations to be thrown at her....and McCain may end up being our next pretzledent. UGH! I am praying that Obama is the nominee. We need to WIN! The Republicans are praying Hillary is the candidate--and, with evil Rove as their penman, they're probably already cooking up ads like the following:

LEAVE IT TO THE DEMOCRATS TO SCREW UP A PERFECT WIN OPPORTUNITY. THE CLINTONS ARE OUT FOR THEMSELVES.

By Jack Lessenberry of Detroit's Metro Times.Remember that commercial Hillary Clinton ran, showing a phone ringing in the White House at 3 a.m., and the former First Lady answering it, "Ready from Day 1!"?

Barack Obama's ad men swiftly countered with their own version. But a friend from the dark side called to ask me to imagine what a wicked time the GOP could have with that ad in the fall campaign. "The phone rings. Hillary answers it. We are about to be attacked. She turns to Bill for advice.

"No Bill. She wanders through the family quarters, looking for him. He is found in a closet, in the arms of a teenage laundry girl. Hillary becomes hysterical, screaming and beating him with her shoe.

"Cut to a picture of a consternated general, holding a silent phone. In the background, a phalanx of enemy missiles roars into the sky. Bill Clinton's voice in the background: 'Depends on what the meaning of is is,' he says plaintively. (Sounds of explosions.)"

"That's a wrap," my evil friend grinned. Indeed.

60 Minutes Segment on Health Care in U.S.

This story told the sad news that many Americans are unable to get medical care because they have no insurance--and can't afford treatment.

60 Minutes: Charity Trying To Make Up For Failing U.S. Health Care System

If you’re looking for a story that shows the abysmal state of health care in America, look no further. 60 Minutes traveled to Knoxville, TN to film a free clinic set up by a charity group called Remote Area Medical Volunteer Corps, or RAM. The charity was initially started in the 90’s by it’s founder, Stan Brock, former co-star of Wild Kingdom, to give health care relief to remote areas of Latin America, but after watching this segment it’s clear that America’s health care system doesn’t look too much different than that of a third world country.

Brock has no family, takes no salary and has no home. He is completely dedicated to RAM, as are the doctors and nurses who volunteer their time and expertise. The local response to this RAM clinic in Knoxville was amazing, yet profoundly saddening. Hundreds of people showed up for the clinic, many drove hours to get there and waited up to seven hours just to get a spot in line to be seen — and ultimately, hundreds had to be turned away. These were not Cadillac driving welfare queens, they were average, working Americans who are under insured or have no insurance at all. The most disheartening part of it all is to see how many of these people had avoided seeking medical treatment for years because they couldn’t afford it and are now reduced to begging for help. It’s a microcosm of our medical system and it’s a damn ugly sight in the world’s wealthiest nation.

Bush, the red phone, and voicemail

This little comic spin by Andy Borowitz would be humorous, except that it's easy to imagine Bush actually doing this!

BUSH SAYS HE LETS RED PHONE GO TO VOICE MAIL

President George W. Bush commented on Sen. Hillary Clinton's controversial "red phone" campaign ads at the White House today, telling reporters, "When that red phone rings, I just let it go straight to voicemail."

Mr. Bush rarely comments about the Democratic presidential contest, but he said that he had to speak up about Sen. Clinton's red phone ads because he found them "so confusing."

"If I answered the red phone every time it rang, I would never get any sleep," Mr. Bush said. "Sometimes it starts ringing at 9 PM, and I am already tucked in by then."

Mr. Bush said that "there's nothing so important that it can't wait until tomorrow, or whenever I remember to check my voicemail."

In a rebuke of Sen. Clinton, Mr. Bush added, "If she doesn't know about letting your calls go straight to voicemail, I don't think she has the experience to be president."

Campaigning in Houston, former President Bill Clinton took issue with Mr. Bush's remarks, telling reporters, "When I get a call at 3 AM, I always pick up, if you know what I mean."

Pressed to explain exactly what he meant, the former president said, "Three o'clock in the morning -- come on! Odds are we're talking about a booty call."

Shortly after his "booty call" remark, the Clinton campaign said that they were revising the former president's itinerary to focus on states that had already voted in February.

Elsewhere, Sen. John McCain released a new series of campaign ads, showing him answering a telegraph key at 3 A.M.

Andy Borowitz is a comedian and writer whose work appears in The New Yorker and The New York Times, and at his award-winning humor site, BorowitzReport.com.

Thank you, Bush & Cheney

For the present state of affairs, Republicans can thank themselves for voting for Bush & Cheney. (Twice!) Ignoring the warnings of the rest of us who were seeing clearly where the neocons were taking us, the dyed-in-the-wool Republicans continued (and some even now, STILL continue) to support the Bush/Cheney regime. Oh yes, and we must thank the Supreme Court for selecting Bush & Cheney for us in the first place, even though the majority had not voted for them.

The rest of us have had to endure the horrible ride to which we have been subjected, which is now ending in financial disaster for our country and its middle-class citizens. The finally admitted "recession" is sliding downward into the big "D" word that no one wants to utter...and all the world's citizens are looking on in dismay, knowing their economic future is tied to ours. Thank you, Bush & Cheney. Thank you, Republicans. Thank you, Democratic Congress members who refused to initiate impeachment against these dangerous, power-and-greed-driven idiots.

As a Democratic president in 2009 desperately searches for ways to stem the tide of disasters brought on us by the worst administration in U.S. history, we can be certain of one thing: the Republicans who voted for Bush & Cheney (Twice!) will be screaming that everything is all the fault of the Democrats.

That's the way it is on Bizarro World where millions of us are stuck, through no seeming fault of our own. Let us Pray.

1943 Guide to Hiring Women

Here's a sample of what women have had to put up with over the years from patronizing men--they talk about the women as if they were pets and certainly not the equals of men -- and had to be given careful instructions and be watched over constantly--AARGHHH!....Wouldn't you love to haul off and punch the guy who wrote this crap???? This actually makes me want to vote for Hillary! (As an "older woman" now, I would have a hard time "adapting myself" and of course I "tend to be cantankerous and fussy"--so please ignore everything I've just said.) ;-) I have to admit: we've come a long way, baby!

Panel recommends all kids get flu shots

My own opinion: I do NOT agree with this recommendation. Flu shots
contain thimerosol (mercury)--and much of the time, as it was this year,
the vaccine they give turns out not to cover the flu that actually makes
its way through the community. I would not give mercury to any child
(or adult) in any form. I hope parents pay no heed to this ridiculous
addition to the already too-many vaccinations our kids have to
undergo--and which often actually make them sick.

Don't stop taking anti-depressants, doctors urge

The following article tells it all. Big Pharma is probably inundating doctors everywhere with telegrammed warnings and stepped-up visits from their detail men, etc. begging the docs not to discontinue prescribing Prozac and other similar drugs! My god, imagine how much money they would lose if people stopped taking Prozac! Horrors! We can't have THAT! Nope, keep those millions of folks on drugs--even the ones proven not to work--and WORSE, the ones that actually harm them! Don't let them begin to take responsibility for their own health--mental and physical. Don't let them find out that simple homeopathic remedies (costing $5 or $6 each) often do a far better job--with no side effects! The AMA and big pharma companies banded together in the early part of the 20th century to rid the U.S. of homeopathy in favor of drugs which were far more dangerous and cost a lot more--and were far more profitable. And so it goes....the people were, once again, the foils and victims of big money and big corporations. We've all seen how the insurance companies got in on the action, too. We'll insure you and take your money, but please don't ask us to pay out!

The good news: Because more physicians are discovering homeopathy works so well, it is making inroads back into our health system--but at the cost of trillions of dollars and millions of patients lost for so many years in the allopathic realm that took over medical "health" care in our country. Homeopathy is based on like cures like -- and less is more. Open-minded doctors have discovered the almost miraculous types of cures that can be rendered through homeopathy. Unfortunately, there are very few open minds in AMA-trained physicians. It is the rare doctor who, having been trained in one way, will look for other methods--especially ones that will require further training. They fall into the AMA/pharmaceutical trap--and stay there, nurtured and cajoled by the pharmaceutical companies who wine and dine them royally. They don't stop to wonder why they are treating a symptom instead of looking for the cause of the symptom. Homeopathy goes to the root, which is why the results seem so "miraculous." It's actually very simple. If you treat the root cause with the right remedy, the symptoms will disappear. Hmmm....a little different from the western approach: you have a headache? Here, take this pain killer--one of the side effects of which is "headache." :-( You have stress and emotional problems? Here, take Prozac--(which has now been found to not even be effective)! And on and on...

I just finished reading Donna Nakazawa's new book, The Autoimmune Epidemic: Bodies Gone Haywire in a World out of Balance. In it there is quite an interesting story of a doctor who found out first-hand as a patient how the western medical system works--or didn't work for him. After having been almost killed by medical "mistakes," one of which initially incurred during an unnecessary medical test, he was forced to find a cure for himself from an auto-immune disease caused by one of the "mistakes." After having completely debilitated him, the doctors told him, "Sorry--there is nothing more we can do for you." So he turned to something his mother had told him years ago about nutrition and diet and how important a part that plays in the healing (and preventive) process. Along the way toward his cure, he discovered some essential truths. His name is Dr. Gerard Mullin, one-time head of gastroenterology in a big hospital, who is now director of Integrative GI Nutrition at Johns Hopkins Hospital, and who shares with his patients what he learned as a patient himself.

Although I know some of western medicine works well--and I certainly don't advocate leaving it completely, I think we need to expand our vision and get things more in balance. It took me too many years of thinking allopathic medicine was all we had to rely on, before I learned there were other ways. As that old Pennsylvania Dutch saying goes--and is getting more truthful all the time for me: Too soon old, Too late schmart. (~.~) :-( It pays to have discrimination and knowledge--in all things, including medical treatment choices.

Just my own opinion, of course.

Bush and McCain: NOW or THEN? Make your own judgment

It is interesting to me how controlled and quiet McCain's words are in all his speeches and comments--much like a metronome...that puts you to sleep ZZZZzzzzzz. I've also noticed in the years I've been on this planet that, often, people who speak this way are trying to hide anger that lurks just under the surface of those apparently calm, controlled, measured words. And, without warning--IT CAN ERUPT AT ANY TIME!!! With McCain, I've heard it often does. Is this the kind of man we want at the helm of our government, with his hand on the nuclear buttons? Just asking.

Imagine the kind of anger McCain may now be hiding about how the Bush campaign smeared him in 2000 and how he has had to remain "loyal" to Bush (even HUG him--YUK!) and cowtow to the right-wing fundamentalists he used to despise. Did you ever read all the smears Bush/ROVE said against McCain in 2000? Following is a sample (you can just imagine how much rage McCain must have stowed away about all of this!) Particularly, note how Bush/ROVE not only questioned McCain's temper, but also his SANITY! And now Bush is praising him and saying what a great president McCain would make. What a difference eight political years make! How could anyone trust this bunch of liars who will do or say anything to achieve their own ends--and then deny what they did--even though it is recorded in video, audio, and written media for all to see and hear?! Let's do a rewind to the 2000 campaign--and then tell me if you would vote for the McCain that Bush described in those not-so-long-ago days. To remain loyal to an evil bunch like the Republican neocons must take a lot of self-deception and denial! What a dilemma! Who do you believe, Bush NOW?--or your lying eyes and memory about what Bush said THEN?:

What Bush did to McCain in the 2000 S. C. primary

FACT SHEET:

Bush Waged Nasty Smear Campaign Against McCain in 2000
Bush Supporters Called McCain “The Fag Candidate.” In South Carolina, Bush supporters circulated church fliers that labeled McCain “the fag candidate.” Columnist Frank Rich noted that the fliers were distributed “even as Bush subtly reinforced that message by indicating he wouldn’t hire openly gay people for his administration.” (But of course there are many gay Republicans--as we all have seen--but, since they are abhorred by their own party members who will shun them if they are truthful, they have to hide and deny their sexual orientation--until it gets outed in some sad way.)

McCain Slurs Included Illegitimate Children, Homosexuality And A Drug-Addict Wife.
Among the rumors circulated against McCain in 2000 in South Carolina was that his adopted Bangladeshi daughter was actually black, that McCain was both gay and cheated on his wife, and that his wife Cindy was a drug addict.

Bush Campaign Used Code Words to Question McCain’s Temper.
“A smear campaign of the ugliest sort is now coursing through the contest for the presidency in 2000. Using the code word "temper," a group of Senate Republicans, and at least some outriders of the George W. Bush campaign, are spreading the word that John McCain is unstable. The subtext, also suggested in this whispering campaign, is that he returned from 5 1/2 years as a POW in North Vietnam with a loose screw. And it is bruited about that he shouldn't be entrusted with nuclear weapons.”

Bush Supporters Questioned McCain’s Sanity.
“Some of George W. Bush's supporters have questioned Republican presidential candidate John McCain's fitness for the White House, suggesting that his five years as a prisoner of war in North Vietnam drove him insane at the time.”

Bush Supporters Spread Racist Rumors About McCain’s Daughter.
Bush supporters in South Carolina made race-baiting phone calls saying that McCain had a “black child.” The McCains’ daughter, Bridget, was adopted from Mother Teresa’s orphanage in Bangladesh. In August 2000, columnist Maureen Dowd wrote that the McCains “are still seething about Bush supporters in South Carolina spreading word of their dark-skinned adopted daughter.”

Rove Suggests Former POW McCain Committed Treason and Fathered Child With Black Prostitute.
In 2000, McCain operatives in SC accused Rove of spreading rumors against McCain, such as “suggestions that McCain had committed treason while a prisoner of war, and had fathered a child by a black prostitute,” according to the New Yorker.

After Rove Denied Role In McCain Whisper Campaign, Reporters Concluded He Was Behind It.
A December 1999 Dallas Morning News linked Rove to a series of campaign dirty tricks, including his College Republican efforts, allegedly starting a whisper campaign about Ann Richard being too gay-friendly, spreading stories about Jim Hightower’s involvement in a kickback scheme and leaking the educational history of Lena Guerrero. The article also outlined current dirty tricks and whisper campaigns against McCain in South Carolina, including that “McCain may be unstable as a result of being tortured while a prisoner of war in North Vietnam.” (DMN, 12/2/99) After the article was published, Rove blasted Slater in the Manchester, NH airport, “nose to nose” according to one witness, with Rove claiming Slater had “harmed his reputation,” Slater later noted. But according to one witness, “What was interesting then is that everyone on the campaign charter concluded that Rove was responsible for rumors about McCain.”

Rove Was In Close Touch With McConnell, McCain-Feingold’s Chief Opponent.

Senior White House adviser Karl Rove was in close contact with Senator Mitch McConnell (R-KY) during McConnell’s effort to fight the McCain-Feingold Campaign Finance Bill in the U.S. Senate. According to Newsweek, though Rove and Bush have publicly kept their distance from McConnell on the issue, “sources tell Newsweek that Rove is, in fact, in close touch with McConnell as GOP experts study the bill for hidden land mines.”

Bush Campaign Accused of Using Push Polls Against McCain.
College of Charleston student Suzette Latsko said she received a telephone call from a woman who identified herself as an employee of Voter/Consumer Research, and that the caller misrepresented McCain’s positions and asked if Latsko knew McCain had been reprimanded for interfering with federal regulators in the savings and loan scandal. Voter/Consumer Research is listed as a polling contractor on Bush’s Federal Election Commission filings; the Bush campaign has paid Voter/Consumer Research $93,000 through December 31, 1999. Bush spokesman Ari Fleischer denied the call was a push poll, but said it was important that the Republican Party remember McCain’s role in the S&L crisis.

Bush Campaign Acknowledged Making Phone Calls.

Tucker Eskew, Bush’s South Carolina spokesman, acknowledged the Bush campaign made such calls, but claimed they were not “push polls.” Eskew added, “Show me a baseless comment in those questions.”

Bush Used Fringe Veterans Group to Attack McCain as “Manchurian Candidate.”

“In the case of Ted Sampley, the same guy who did Bush's dirty work in going after Sen. John McCain in the 2000 Republican primaries is doing the job against Kerry this year. Sampley dared compare McCain, who spent five years as a Vietnam POW, with ‘the Manchurian Candidate.’”

Sampley Called McCain a “Coward” and a Traitor.

“Sampley… accused McCain of being a weak-minded coward who had escaped death by collaborating with the enemy. Sampley claimed that McCain had first been compromised by the Vietnamese, then recruited by the Soviets.”

McCain Flip Flops on 100 Years in Iraq Remark

He'll get away with this because it is what many Republicans overlook in their own candidates but, through projection, often accuse others of:
flip-flopping and LIES.

After all, they selected Bush/Cheney twice, didn't they? Bush was their choice in 2000 and 2004. McCain is their choice in 2008. Pathetic, isn't it?

Speaking of McCain, it is interesting to me how controlled and quiet his words are in all his speeches and comments--much like a metronome...that puts you to sleep ZZZZzzzzzz.

Flippity, floppity, flip, flop. Just like a fish on the deck of a boat, John McCain is gasping for the life of his campaign. Knowing full well that tying his campaign to staying in Iraq and the “success” of the “surge” (quick, McCain, explain what that means!) and that the majority of Americans just aren’t willing to buy it, McCain executes a perfect “cut and run” from his earlier statement of staying in Iraq for 100 years.

By the way, that reminds me of that “100 year thing”. My friends, the war will be over soon. The war, for all intents and purposes, although the insurgency will go on for years and years and years. But it will be handled by the Iraqis, not by us.

Huh? The war will be “over soon”??? Mission Accomplished redux? But the insurgency will go on. But that’s not a war. But the Iraqis will handle it. Aren’t the insurgents Iraqis too? Can anyone make heads or tails of this ridiculous excuse of a back pedal?

How in the hell does McCain think he can get away with this?

OMG!! BUSH PREDICTS REPUBLICANS WILL HOLD WHITE HOUSE

In your Dreams, Buddy Boy! ONLY in your Dreams! How can this idiot be so removed from reality? Is anyone in his party actually buying this crap? Do they NOT EVER take a look at what is happening outside of their little bubble of stupidity? It is a wonder to me that his own party has not thrown this brainless reject out the door! He has ruined their party--turned it into a shambles--and he now steps up to claim glory--and victory. God help anyone who still supports him and Cheney, because that person could be sold ANYthing!

http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20080226/ap_on_el_pr/bush_governors

Don't you just love his sentence: "
When I say I'm confident, I am so because I understand the mentality of the American people," Bush said. "And I understand the mentality of our candidates. And there's no question in my mind, with your help, 2008 is going to be a great year." Oh Yes. He "understands" the mentality of the American people and the mentality of Repub. candidates! Remember how he understood "Pootie-Poot" Putin because he looked into his eyes/soul and saw a good man? Not to mention how much he loves and understands Alberto Gonzales, Harriet Miers, Donald Rumsfeld, and on and on and on? I think this relegates to the trash can any further "understanding" and predictions by El Jerko!

How can anyone reading his comments keep from laughing hysterically at the ridiculous obtuseness of this clueless pretense of a human being? It is like a cartoon! You can't believe he is real! Truth really is stranger than fiction. Who would ever have predicted this brainless wreck is what we would see as the chosen (selected) "leader" of our land? Washington, Jefferson, and Lincoln must be screaming in their graves!

At Altitude - Chemtrails Up Close

Can't be disputed--you have to wonder what the airline pilots think of these jets when they see them laying down grids of chemtrails....Do they ever ask questions?

In the past 8 years in our country, questions have not been allowed about anything. If questions about anything are brought up by congress, investigators are ignored if they ask for documents or e-mails or any kind of truth or evidence from Bush/Cheney. So there will be no answers about chemtrails--or any other "mysteries" while B/C are in charge--that you can be sure of.

Feeling somewhat hungry, he sat down and looked over the menu...
Tourist: $5.00
Broiled Missionary: $10.00
Fried Explorer: $15.00
Baked Democrat: $100.00
Grilled Republican (neocon-style): $200.00
The cannibal called the waiter over and asked, "Why such a price difference for the politicians?"

A favorite poem

One that has much significance for us today, even though it was written in 1806.

"THE WORLD IS TOO MUCH WITH US; LATE AND SOON"

THE world is too much with us; late and soon,
Getting and spending, we lay waste our powers:
Little we see in Nature that is ours;
We have given our hearts away, a sordid boon!
The Sea that bares her bosom to the moon;
The winds that will be howling at all hours,
And are up-gathered now like sleeping flowers;
For this, for everything, we are out of tune;
It moves us not.--Great God! I'd rather be
A Pagan suckled in a creed outworn;
So might I, standing on this pleasant lea,
Have glimpses that would make me less forlorn;
Have sight of Proteus rising from the sea;
Or hear old Triton blow his wreathed horn.

-- William Wordsworth
