Zahi Hawass: Fake Chamber Scandal

I have never liked this man -- he is so obviously an arrogant authoritarian controller, enjoying his perch at the top of Egypt's antiquities pyramid (pun intended) -- but he is toppling fast.  Look at what he pulled on the public via national TV:

Read the latest on Hawass's arrest and sentencing to prison for one year at: http://www.abovetopsecret.com/forum/thread690495/pg1

Minister of State for Antiquities Affairs Zahi Hawass has been sentenced to one year in jail on Sunday for refusing to fulfill a court ruling over a land dispute.

The article goes on to note the court has ordered Hawass be stripped of the ministerial portfolio for antiquities and fined. Will he actually serve any time or will the Egyptian military junta simply overturn the court sentence? My bet is on the latter. If not, what does this mean for Egyptology?

Hawass is not a nice man in my opinion and has kept many secrets from humanity. He deserves to be in jail for the crimes he has committed against legitimate Egyptologists and I hope he finds the heart to come clean about the knowledge he has been helping to hide about the true history of ancient Egyptians and the sacred nature of the Giza site
