This article should be read by all Republicans -- but won't be

Many (most) Republicans, against all understanding, still believe in the trickle-down "voo-doo" economics put forth by Reagan and continued by the two Bushes.  Even if they themselves are not getting any of the trickle-down, still they support the regimes that tell them we are better off when the rich become richer. And so they cheer when taxes are lowered on the wealthy. They honestly believe it is benefiting them, even as the country is crumbling around them.  It's a puzzlement that they cannot see what is happening in our country--and WHY it is happening, even when it is happening to their own children.  Were they to read the following article, they would find a way to brush it off and continue their delusion, quoting Limbaugh, Beck, Coulter, Hannity, Palin et al.  They would for certain blame it all on the Democrats. Their blind spot is so great, there is no way  you can show them the truth.  They don't want facts.  They like being "dittoheads" of Limbaugh and Fox (Rupert Murdoch).  It sure would be nice if they could read the following article and actually have their eyes opened.  But, I'm sorry to say after talking with right wingers till I'm blue in the face that that will never happen.  They are dedicated to the ruin of this country, and don't recognize the part they are playing in its accomplishment.

Of the 1%, by the 1%, for the 1%
By Joseph Stiglitz, Vanity Fair Magazine

EXCERPT:  Americans have been watching protests against oppressive regimes that concentrate massive wealth in the hands of an elite few.  Yet in our own democracy, 1 percent of the people take nearly a quarter of the nation's income--an inequality even the wealthy will come to regret. ...The top 1 percent have the best houses, the best educations, the best doctors, and the best lifestyles, but there is one thing that money doesn’t seem to have bought: an understanding that their fate is bound up with how the other 99 percent live. Throughout history, this is something that the top 1 percent eventually do learn. Too late.
