Sense and Senselessness in romantic comedy movies

I love those Roz Russell/Cary Grant - type movies of the '30s and '40s, where the smart, sharp dialogue zips and zings.  What we now have in present-day stuff is tripe.  Everything has been dumbed down.  This Maureen Dowd column hits it right on the mark -- look at what corporatism gone wild has given us.  In almost every important way, society has been dumbed down to the point where most people wouldn't appreciate--or even understand--the fast-paced repartee' between the men and women in those romantic comedies of the past.  For proof of that statement, just look at what the GOP (Greed Over People) puts forth as a presidential hopeful: Sarah Palin.  It seems they didn't get enough stupidity from their last bumbling idiot, Duhmbya Bush, who trashed our country beyond recognition.  I rest my case.  Read what Maureen Dowd has to say:
