McCain -- SAVED by the STORM!!!

The Republicans couldn't figure how to exclude Duhmbya from the convention -- after all, he is the seated president of their party, albeit THE. WORST. PRESIDENT. EVER. So what were they ever going to do with him? Well, they had to have him speak if he attended, so they scheduled him for Monday, the first day -- and as far away from McCain (on Thursday) as possible. And then....GUSTAV appeared on the horizon to save them. Even though Gustav is causing all kinds of trouble to millions of others, it provides a handy excuse for Bush not to attend the convention. If the Repubs are smart, they'll insist Cheney use the same excuse. Have you noticed we haven't seen hide nor hair of Cheney/Igor for months now? They probably have him chained in the cellar--where you can't hear him snarling.

From the AP wire: Concerns over the hurricane led the White House to announce Sunday that it is unlikely President Bush will attend the Republican National Convention in Minnesota.

He was scheduled to speak to the RNC in St. Paul on Monday night. White House spokeswoman Dana Perino said alternate plans are being prepared.
