Payroll Tax Showdown: reveals true colors of GOP

http://abcnews.go.com/blogs/politics/2011/12/payroll-tax-showdown-what-it-means-to-you/

Republicans are finding themselves between a rock and a hard place.  They've painted themselves into a corner on tax hikes.  Grover Norquist's puppets, sometimes known as Republican senators and representatives, have pledged to never, ever raise taxes.  But we're now seeing that vow applies only when the richest 1% are involved. Taxes can't be raised on them.  But with the poor and middle class it's a different story.  If the payroll tax extension is not passed in the House (the GOP representatives are against it), $1,000 more in taxes will be exacted from the middle class and poor next year.  It's our gift from the Republicans whose corporate CEO masters gave themselves a 27% increase in salary this year.

If ever we needed proof of the real Republican intentions, here it is, folks!  But don't be at all surprised if the Tea Party supporters/right-wing fanatics continue to swallow the party line put out to them by Boehner, Limbaugh, Gingrich and the rest of the bought-and-paid-for defenders of the 1% against the 99% (that's us).  In their eyes, the rich deserve massive wealth and the rest of us are just "freeloaders" who should be denied any kind of help to get us through the economic depression caused by the 1%.

Right wing voters should have bumper stickers on their cars, reading
"I vote against my own interests. Proudly loyal to the GOP through ignorance."  The last word should actually be "stupidity" but they think of themselves as very intelligent and it's impossible to burst that bubble they live in. They really are proud of their ignorance/stupidity that keeps them voting for people and policies that work against them and their families.

Information you won't forget -- watch this new documentary online

http://vimeo.com/32929776   Free online viewing -- instead of paying $20.00 to buy it on amazon.

The title of the documentary is THRIVE, released in November. It is made by Foster Gamble, heir to the Proctor and Gamble fortune.  It is unlike any documentary you have ever seen before.  And it is Most Important viewing!  We all know our world is not the way we want it to be -- something is awry, and we don't seem to be able to change it for the better, no matter how much we try.  This documentary
makes sense of things and events that seemingly made no sense before, by giving puzzle pieces that have been missing for most of us.

I just watched it and, though I was previously aware of much of the information through years of curiosity/seminars/reading/etc., still there was far more to be learned.  This is a truly amazing and enlightening documentary, with suggestions for change, should you be interested in knowing what you can do, after viewing it.  Of all the recommendations I have made of books to read and movies to watch regarding the world situation, I consider this to be the most important one of all.  If you decide to watch it, please let me know what you think of it after you have seen it.  Pass the information about it along, if you find it to be of value to you.

A short tribute to Christopher Hitchins by Jane Mayer, The New Yorker

Ya' just gotta' love this guy! He did not suffer fools gladly.  I wish him well on his eternal journey. He will no doubt be surprised to find he lives on.

Perry Pension: OK for him -- but not for YOU.

Typical political hypocrisy -- so rampant in the GOP.
http://www.rawstory.com/rs/2011/12/16/rick-perry-retires-to-collect-state-pension-while-still-governor/

Texas Governor and current Republican presidential candidate Rick Perry appears to have pulled something of a fast one on his state’s taxpayers by officially “retiring” earlier this year so that he could begin collecting an annual pension of $92,376 at the same time as he continues to draw his $150,000 a year salary as governor.

The arrangement went into effect last January but became public knowledge only this week, when Perry’s presidential campaign filed the personal financial disclosure statement after having previously received two successive delays.

Perry was asked about the payments during a campaign stop in Iowa on Friday and replied, “That’s been in place for decades … I don’t find that to be out of the ordinary. [The Employee Retirement System] called me and said, ‘Listen you’re eligible to access your retirement now with your military time and your time and service, and I think you would be rather foolish to not access what you’ve earned.’”

Perry continues to pay 6.5% of his salary as governor into the Employees Retirement System, which will further increase his retirement payment once his term ends in 2015. He will also be eligible for lifetime health care at state expense, as well as Social Security benefits.

The payments certainly appear to be legal but could prove embarrassing for the governor, who has complained about entitlement programs and has proposed a partial privatization of Social Security as part of his presidential campaign.

In Memoriam: Christopher Hitchens, by his brother Peter

This is a heartfelt tribute to Christopher Hitchens (who died last night) by his brother:  http://www.dailymail.co.uk/debate/article-2075133/Christopher-Hitchens-death-In-Memoriam-courageous-sibling-Peter-Hitchens.html

I often disagreed with some of Hitchens' beliefs, especially his defense of the Iraq war. But there were other areas in which I thought he was right.  I'm reading his book right now, God is Not Great: Religion Poisons Everything.  I do agree with him on that statement, although I can also see that, on the plus side, with its rules, regulations and threats based on fear of punishment, religion can "control the jackals," as a wise man once said.  But when all is said and done, I come down more on the side of Hitchens' descriptions of the harm religions have done in the world--in divisive ways, causing wars and terrorism throughout the ages.  It seems to me that Earth religions are indicative of a primitive understanding of "God" -- and the interpretations men have given to the simple wisdom teachings of sages and saints are often confusing and complex.  I think the teachings are more often misunderstood than taken to heart in the way the sages intended.  Just my own opinion...

Things the military are doing but are not telling about--publicly

Interesting video:  http://www.forbiddenknowledgetv.com/videos/bad-governance/crazy-rulers-of-the-world-part-1-the-men-whostare-at-goats.html

I've met two of the remote viewers who worked in Army intelligence in a program based in Virginia.  They spoke at one of the conferences I attended over the years, revealing much about their work, so this documentary is not surprising to me.  Many may find General Stubblebine's interview in this short documentary to be intriguing...who would have believed that materialistic military realists (such as he might be surmised to be) would be not only open, but dedicated, to what some hard-headed types might call "airy-fairy" ideas?  Here's a look behind the scenes in the military, which most people have never been privy to.  For the curious who would like to probe more deeply into paranormal realms and the military's exploration of such, a great deal of information can be found online.  Military enthusiasts will find the simple but effective kung fu-type techniques for subduing the enemy to be of interest.

Ron Paul ad about Newt Gingrich -- Best ad ever

In just a few minutes' time, this ad gives a full overview of Gingrich's hypocrisy.  Very well done.  That Gingrich could even be considered for President would have been unheard of in days gone by.  But this is now, and all moral standards have been thrown out the window by the Republican party, which claims to represent and revere "family values."  A mind-blowing statement, guaranteed to make any thinking person laugh and cry at the same time.

Conservative Republican Frum blasts FOX News for "alternative knowledge system"

This is not surprising to the rest of us, but it may set the Tea Party folks back on their heels. Most of them believe FOX to be their prime source of truthful "news." Now even one of their own is saying FOX is full of "pseudo-facts and pretend information." No wonder people who watch no news at all are better informed than FOX viewers!

http://www.rawstory.com/rs/2011/12/11/frum-fox-news-creates-an-alternative-knowledge-system/

Conservative columnist David Frum, who was speechwriter for former President George W. Bush, blasted Fox News on Sunday for creating an “alternative knowledge system.”

In an article published by New York Magazine in late November, Frum had argued that conservative media like Fox News and talk radio “immerse their audience in a total environment of pseudo-facts and pretend information.”

In an appearance on CNN Sunday, Frum cited claims made on Fox News that President Barack Obama was proposing a “new Christmas tree tax,” something that was found by both The Florida Times-Union and PolitiFact Oregon to be not true.

“It fed into a story about this Muslim-y kind of president trying to destroy a Christian holiday,” Frum explained to CNN’s Howard Kurtz. “To make this a ground for a cultural conflict, to create a sense in large numbers of people they are being persecuted and attacked at a time when the country is in so much trouble, that’s how this thing is fed.”

“The question is what is the impact on the viewer?” he continued. “And we know, for example, that people that watch a lot of Fox come away knowing a lot less about important world events. That’s a correlation that we know.”

Recent polling appears to back up Frum’s assertion.

Fairleigh Dickinson University found last month that “some outlets, especially Fox News, lead people to be even less informed than those who say they don’t watch any news at all.”

“For example, people who watch Fox News, the most popular of the 24-hour cable news networks, are 18-points less likely to know that Egyptians overthrew their government than those who watch no news at all (after controlling for other news sources, partisanship, education and other demographic factors),” they wrote. “Fox News watchers are also 6-points less likely to know that Syrians have not yet overthrown their government than those who watch no news.”

Artificial Sweetener Disease -- is sweeping the country

http://www.naturalnews.com/034378_artificial_sweetener_disease_ASD_aspartame.html

EXCERPT:
Artificial Sweetener Disease (ASD) is sweeping across America, affecting tens of thousands of consumers, and Western medicine calls it anything but what it really is, so that doctors can prescribe expensive pharmaceuticals and set up "check up" appointments for the following weeks.

Call it recurring headaches, unbearable migraines, depression, anxiety, muscle pain, arthritis flare ups, buzzing or ringing in the ears, chronic fatigue, fibromyalgia, irritable bowel syndrome (IBS), Crohn's disease, inflammation, even acid reflux, but don't call it ASD, or the patient may stop consuming synthetic sweeteners, and then not schedule more doctor visits.

There is no prescription drug, and there never will be one, that cures the problems that artificial sweeteners create. In fact, over 70 percent of reported cases of fibromyalgia, chronic depression, IBS and acid reflux are caused by consuming chemical agents which have been approved by the FDA for consumption. (http://www.foodintol.com/food_intol...)

Cancer may be the distant, long term result of consuming chemicals, but ASD is the short term consequence, and it is very serious. If you look to prescription drugs to cure these "chronic ailments," then you will experience even more side effects from the prescription medicines, and maybe worse ones than you already have.

The good news is
the cure for Artificial Sweetener Disease is absolutely free and involves no doctor, no health insurance co-pays, and has zero side effects. Here is the secret cure for ASD: throw away your sugar free gum and candy, and then trash all foods and drinks you have that are labeled "light" and "zero." Read the labels on everything, so you can filter out all artificial sweeteners from your products, including aspartame, sucralose, sorbitol, acesulfame-k, aspartic acid, and saccharine.

As an alternative to poisoning yourself, try Xylitol or Stevia in order to cut calories, or simply eat more organic vegetables

Message I just sent to Austin, TX mayor

We ignore at our own peril this violent treatment of peaceful demonstrators. These people in their own uniquely creative way, were demonstrating for Peace in an Austin, TX mall, without harassment of anyone -- and not even speaking. Without warning, they were descended upon by a cadre of mall security police and were brutally treated, with one very small young woman viciously thrown to the ground and manhandled by a big bruiser 300 lb. guard and then arrested. If you have an interest in civil rights, you can write your own letter to Austin's mayor. The more he receives, the better -- at: http://www.ci.austin.tx.us/connect/email_leeleffingwell.htm

To Mayor Lee Leffingwell, Austin, TX:

Anti-war protesters tried to share their message peacefully, quietly, and in a rather creative way with Christmas shoppers in an Austin, Tx. shopping mall.

NO ONE was obstructed from continuing their busy shopping and the message was well received by shoppers all around, however, the message of peace during Christmas time was not welcome by mall security.

Not at all...

Watch this Video:

http://www.brasschecktv.com/page/6082.html

This obstruction of the rights of people to peacefully assemble (with a message of PEACE!) cannot be tolerated! As Mayor of your city, you need to be addressing this shameful event. The eyes of the country are on you -- and on all leaders of municipalities where the right of peaceful assembly is being denied to the public. We are guaranteed Freedom of Speech by our Bill of Rights in the Constitution, yet in these first years of the 21st century, we are being denied this basic human right.

Watch the video of what happened at the mall in your city, and see how the rights of the people were brutally violated.

This has brought shame on your city! If you tolerate this kind of treatment of demonstrators, it says a great deal about you and your values.

The Land of the Free? Not anymore -- watch this outrageous video

http://www.brasschecktv.com/videos/censorship/dont-buy-war-freeze-flash-mob--police-brutality-in-austin-tx.html

It's good that someone took videos of these peace demonstrators in an Austin, Texas mall -- they are peaceful people, assembling peacefully, making no sound, harassing no one, just holding PEACE and anti-war signs -- BUT look at what the mall police did to them!  This is an outrageous stomping on the rights guaranteed us by our forefathers, but these are rights we no longer have.  They are written on paper -- but they mean nothing to the police state we now live in. People gathering peacefully in demonstration against war is no longer allowed.  If you assemble in this way, violent and brutal treatment by the police is sure to follow.  The same thing is happening to peaceful demonstrators all over our country.  In NY City and Davis, California, demonstrators have been viciously pepper sprayed, even though they were doing nothing but sitting on the ground.

This authoritarian strike against the rights of the public cannot be tolerated. A revolution of the people is in the making.  We cannot stand by and watch our right to peaceful assembly being taken away!  Write your representatives and senators -- and to the mayor of Austin, TX, calling their attention to this shameful event and demanding that such brutal police tactics stop immediately.  And to all Tea Party supporters who have been accusing the Occupy groups to be nothing but dirty hippies, take a look at these demonstrators.  They could be you (if you had a heart and compassion for others).  The Mayor of Austin address:
Mayor Lee Leffingwell Office: City Hall 301 W. 2nd St. 2nd Floor Austin, Texas 78701 or send him an e-mail -- just go to: http://www.ci.austin.tx.us/connect/email_leeleffingwell.htm

CEO of JP Morgan/Chase says: "Stop Complaining!"

From realecontv.com:

If I were Jamie Dimon, CEO of JP Morgan/Chase,
I'd be building a bunker in a country that does
not have an extradition treaty with the US.

I'd also be pricing the services of a couple of
hundred mercenaries in said country to guard
my compound if things get too rough.

(The Bush family has done this in Paraguay.
No joke. Look it up.)

Instead, Mr. Dimon is lecturing you on
how you should stop complaining.

I have a reply.

The remarkable stupidity of Wall Street

By Robert Reich

http://www.readersupportednews.org/opinion2/279-82/8829-the-remarkable-political-stupidity-of-the-street

Before reading this wise analysis by Robert Reich, I had just written the following e-mail in reply to a Tea Party supporter who sent me an article lauding Wall Street and the 1% and condemning the 99% Occupiers, stating that history repeats itself over and over.  The ignorance of the author of the article, a man named Christopher Chantrill, is beyond abysmal--and would be laughable if it weren't for the tragedy it is causing in our country.  Here is one quote:
[The Occupiers'] dream is already realized in democratic capitalism, the bourgeoisie dignified and free, as Deirdre McCloskey writes, inspired to creativity and service, working within a framework that transcends political power, identity, fear, and force. (My underlining) Where does one even start to address ignorance and arrogance of that magnitude? Following is my poor attempt at it, in my reply to its sender:

The article you sent me is obviously written by someone with plenty of money and no empathy for others -- in other words, a Republican.  Yes, history does repeat itself, over and over and over; that part is the only truth in the article.  We have gone beyond farcical in the U.S. with the repeat of dolts running for president, and each time around, the dolts get worse--just look at the slate presented by the GOP this time around. They're a spiral downward even from the worst of the worst, Bush and Cheney.  As for the author saying this about the Occupy Wall Street folks: They don’t want capitalism to work, because if it did, it would rob them of exciting teenage street action, that is by far the most ignorant remark in the entire piece, which is filled with ignorance from top to bottom.  Capitalism mixed with extreme greed at the top is no longer workable for the people or the country. We now live in an oligarchy, in which the oft-touted benefits of capitalism do not work for the majority of the people. The Tea Party supporters don't realize it, but they are working against themselves in supporting the corrupt 1% bandits who have robbed our country of its democratic principles.  What a sad state of affairs.

When the greedy elite at the top hold everything for themselves, nothing trickles down to the rest of the people -- the wealth all stays at the top. Look around you! Your friends and neighbors are suffering--oh, maybe not on your street, but certainly in your town, in your state, and in all the states of the country. These are the people who are marching in the streets--they are desperate!  Some are living in their cars and cannot even feed their children because they've lost their jobs--and unemployment benefits have run out. What answer do the Republicans give them?  Let's cut out more benefits for those in need, rather than raising taxes on the rich. What supreme ignorance! They are bringing down the entire country in order to preserve the insane lifestyles of the rich.

The truth is, we do not have a democratic republic and, lacking a Teddy Roosevelt to keep the corporations/banks/Wall Street in line with strong regulations, capitalism does not work anymore. It has been run into the ground by the 1% at the top.  The people demonstrating in the streets know this, but you and the author of the article have blinded yourself to that reality.  In your mind, you and yours are not suffering, so everything must be OK. But everything is NOT OK.   Regulations are needed on the corporations -- but they now own the government (and the Republican Party completely). Grover Norquist, the bought-and-paid-for, top-of-the-heap lobbyist that he is, has convinced Republican politicians to NEVER raise taxes on the rich. Our so-called "leaders" have sold their souls to the devil, so there will be no corporate regulations.  Benefits like food stamps and unemployment checks will be reduced further and further, people will starve and the Tea Party will pretend not to notice. But WE, the PEOPLE are noticing!  We are being forced to notice!  Our fellow citizens (our "brothers" in Christian terms) are suffering; they are calling out for help -- and they are being ignored. All this is happening while the money changers in the temple carry on with their lucrative business--lucrative for themselves, but for no one else.  Given this situation, what do you think Jesus would do?  I think he would be chasing those money changers out of the temple once again -- and would be marching with the Occupy people in the streets, demanding tax raises on the rich and benefits for the poor.

But Jesus isn't here in physical form -- and many of those who profess to be Christians don't even realize they are not following his teaching.  We will all go down together, because the greedy bastards at the top have forgotten they are part of a web.  What happens to the rest of us will impact them, too.  The Titanic is sinking, and the people are shouting, "We need more lifeboats!" The 1% are cutting away the small lifeboats (benefits) for the people and letting them drift away, keeping big lifeboats for themselves. The elite are thinking they will survive.  But they won't. Their lifeboats have big holes, which they have not yet noticed.  The fates of all of us are tied together.  Because of ignorance, greed, and neglect, America's Ship of State is sinking.  Down we go.

The Readers' Comments to Reich's article represent the wisdom and insight of the 99%, who, unlike my Republican correspondent, can actually see what is going on.  Here is a comment by a man named Adam that succinctly describes the differences between the Tea Party and the Occupiers:

The factual content of this article is useful and Dr. Reich's overall conclusions salient. However, he makes the mistake--one I thought he had gotten past--of assimilating the Occupy movement to the Tea Party as somehow similar outbursts of "rage."
This is discredited drivel. The two have almost nothing in common. The Tea Party began as a confused outburst by mainly older, economically comfortable white conservatives who were feeling their security and privilege slipping away, and who were then mobilized and funded by right-wing corporate money. Virtually all their protest has been directed against the government, not against the banks.

The Occupy movement started with young, mostly white people angry about the way their futures have been wrecked by a crashed economy and debt they can't repay, but has broadened to include workers and unemployed of all ages and ethnicities and to represent a range of grievances not in any way confined to Wall St. Occupy is becoming a struggle against the entire economic, social, and political system and the shitty lives it compels more and more of us to live. Not only that, but it's part of a global anti-corporate uprising. Occupy is not some kind of cry of incoherent rage. It embodies in its daily practice the values that ought to govern our society: compassion, solidarity, generosity, deliberation, democracy. You should get out of your ivory tower and into the street a lot more often.

Pulling the wool over the eyes of the Republican voters

ALL THE GOP'S GEKKOS
By Paul Krugman
A
lmost a quarter of a century has passed since the release of the movie “Wall Street,” and the film seems more relevant than ever. The self-righteous screeds of financial tycoons denouncing President Obama all read like variations on Gordon Gekko’s famous “greed is good” speech, while the complaints of Occupy Wall Street sound just like what Gekko says in private: “I create nothing. I own,” he declares at one point; at another, he asks his protégé, “Now you’re not naïve enough to think we’re living in a democracy, are you, buddy?”

Yet, with the benefit of hindsight, we can see that the movie went a little off at the end. It closes with Gekko getting his comeuppance, and justice served thanks to the diligence of the Securities and Exchange Commission. In reality, the financial industry just kept getting more and more powerful, and the regulators were neutered.

And, according to the prediction market Intrade, there’s a 45 percent chance that a real-life Gordon Gekko will be the next Republican presidential nominee.

I am not, of course, the first person to notice the similarity between Mitt Romney’s business career and the fictional exploits of Oliver Stone’s antihero. In fact, the labor-backed group Americans United for Change is using “Romney-Gekko” as the basis for an ad campaign. But there’s an issue here that runs deeper than potshots against Mr. Romney.

For the current orthodoxy among Republicans is that we mustn’t even criticize the wealthy, let alone demand that they pay higher taxes, because they’re “job creators.” Yet the fact is that quite a few of today’s wealthy got that way by destroying jobs rather than creating them. And Mr. Romney’s business history offers a very good illustration of that fact.

The Los Angeles Times recently surveyed the record of Bain Capital, the private equity firm that Mr. Romney ran from 1984 to 1999. As the report notes, Mr. Romney made a lot of money over those years, both for himself and for his investors. But he did so in ways that often hurt ordinary workers.

Bain specialized in leveraged buyouts, buying control of companies with borrowed money, pledged against those companies’ earnings or assets. The idea was to increase the acquired companies’ profits, then resell them.

But how were profits to be increased? The popular image — shaped in part by Oliver Stone — is that buyouts were followed by ruthless cost-cutting, largely at the expense of workers who either lost their jobs or found their wages and benefits cut. And while reality is more complex than this image — some companies have expanded and added workers after a leveraged buyout — it contains more than a grain of truth. One recent analysis of “private equity transactions” — the kind of buyouts and takeovers Bain specialized in — noted that business in general is always both creating and destroying jobs, and that this is also true of companies that were buyout or takeover targets. However, job creation at the target firms is no greater than in similar firms that aren’t targets, while “gross job destruction is substantially higher.”

So Mr. Romney made his fortune in a business that is, on balance, about job destruction rather than job creation. And because job destruction hurts workers even as it increases profits and the incomes of top executives, leveraged buyout firms have contributed to the combination of stagnant wages and soaring incomes at the top that has characterized America since 1980.

Now I’ve just said that the leveraged buyout industry as a whole has been a job destroyer, but what about Bain in particular? Well, by at least one criterion, Bain during the Romney years seems to have been especially hard on workers, since four of its top 10 targets by dollar value ended up going bankrupt. (Bain, nonetheless, made money on three of those deals.) That’s a much higher rate of failure than is typical even of companies going through leveraged buyouts — and when the companies went under, many workers ended up losing their jobs, their pensions, or both.

So what do we learn from this story? Not that Mitt Romney the businessman was a villain. Contrary to conservative claims, liberals aren’t out to demonize or punish the rich. But they do object to the attempts of the right to do the opposite, to canonize the wealthy and exempt them from the sacrifices everyone else is expected to make because of the wonderful things they supposedly do for the rest of us.

The truth is that what’s good for the 1 percent, or even better the 0.1 percent, isn’t necessarily good for the rest of America — and Mr. Romney’s career illustrates that point perfectly. There’s no need, and no reason, to hate Mr. Romney and others like him. We do, however, need to get such people paying more in taxes — and we shouldn’t let myths about “job creators” get in the way.

Newt Gingrich--oh so much more to be revealed!

Watch out, GOP -- Newt is a newt with teeth ready to bite you, once he is nominated...

Newt Gingrich and the unknown unknowns

At some point, this Newtonian episode is going to wind up in a campaign ad. House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) said in an online interview that she would share what she knows about Newt Gingrich from her days on the ethics committee that eventually meted out a record $300,000 fine. (“I served on the investigative committee that investigated him, four of us locked in a room in an undisclosed location for a year,” Pelosi told Talking Points Memo. “A thousand pages of his stuff.”) Gingrich was outraged that she should reveal the facts about which he was investigated, contrary to a system designed to afford members of Congress the maximum protection. He blustered that this would be a “fundamental [Gingrich’s favorite word] violation of the rules of the House.”

Wait a minute. Why hasn’t Gingrich released all this information? And by the way, where is the promised disclosure about all his post-speakership lobbying, er .  . . historical consulting? Why hasn’t he turned over his contracts, revealed his clients and told us how much he pulled down from which clients? His spokesman said at one point that the campaign would.

In this regard, both the mainstream and conservative media have fallen down on the job. Gingrich is never pressed in interviews or debates about his lack of disclosure. Many conservative blog and talk shows are uninterested in vetting Gingrich’s record so they don’t make a fuss over it either. (This comes after they made a federal case in 2008 out of then-candidate Barack Obama’s refusal to release his college grades.)

But this is one of the central dangers posed by Gingrich’s candidacy: Lots of people who worked on congressional committees, at special interest groups and for him in one capacity or another have plenty of details about what he has done over the years. It is the unknown unknowns, as Donald Rumsfeld put it, that are the most dangerous.

Herman Cain spent months skating by, aware there were oodles of ladies willing and able to step forward and create problems. How many problem stories with much more reliable witnesses are waiting to pop out for Gingrich, should he get the nomination? He is at the mercy of such people. The party, if it selects him, would be at the mercy of such people.

And yet Gingrich’s approach has been “mum’s the word.” It’s all “confidential,” he said of his deal with Freddie Mac. You can only imagine what else is out there, ready for the Obama hit squad to reveal.
