IMPORTANT TO READ! WHAT DOES THIS WAR REALLY COST???

Yet, there are still people who support this administration. In one of the latest polls, Bush actually had a 19% approval rating. Hard to imagine who that 19% might be. With all that has been revealed about this crooked, dark, evil administration, you would think that number would be close to zero. But it's possible that, like Bush himself, not all of his supporters can read. Some interesting facts about the cost of the war are included in the following--for all those who can read. If McCain becomes president, we can expect these figures to continue...

Possible ad against Hillary should she become the nominee

Something to think about. If Hillary prevails and is the nominee, we can expect tons of negative accusations to be thrown at her....and McCain may end up being our next pretzledent. UGH! I am praying that Obama is the nominee. We need to WIN! The Republicans are praying Hillary is the candidate--and, with evil Rove as their penman, they're probably already cooking up ads like the following:

LEAVE IT TO THE DEMOCRATS TO SCREW UP A PERFECT WIN OPPORTUNITY. THE CLINTONS ARE OUT FOR THEMSELVES.

By Jack Lessenberry of Detroit's Metro Times.Remember that commercial Hillary Clinton ran, showing a phone ringing in the White House at 3 a.m., and the former First Lady answering it, "Ready from Day 1!"?

Barack Obama's ad men swiftly countered with their own version. But a friend from the dark side called to ask me to imagine what a wicked time the GOP could have with that ad in the fall campaign. "The phone rings. Hillary answers it. We are about to be attacked. She turns to Bill for advice.

"No Bill. She wanders through the family quarters, looking for him. He is found in a closet, in the arms of a teenage laundry girl. Hillary becomes hysterical, screaming and beating him with her shoe.

"Cut to a picture of a consternated general, holding a silent phone. In the background, a phalanx of enemy missiles roars into the sky. Bill Clinton's voice in the background: 'Depends on what the meaning of is is,' he says plaintively. (Sounds of explosions.)"

"That's a wrap," my evil friend grinned. Indeed.

Kitchen Sink tactics by the Clintons

We have had way too much of this kind of political lying and backstabbing. This is not helping the Democratic party at all! Time to turn a new page with Obama.

60 Minutes Segment on Health Care in U.S.

This story told the sad news that many Americans are unable to get medical care because they have no insurance--and can't afford treatment.

60 Minutes: Charity Trying To Make Up For Failing U.S. Health Care System

video_wmv Download | Play video_mov Download | Play (h/t Heather)

If you’re looking for a story that shows the abysmal state of health care in America, look no further. 60 Minutes traveled to Knoxville, TN to film a free clinic set up by a charity group called Remote Area Medical Volunteer Corps, or RAM. The charity was initially started in the 90’s by it’s founder, Stan Brock, former co-star of Wild Kingdom, to give health care relief to remote areas of Latin America, but after watching this segment it’s clear that America’s health care system doesn’t look too much different than that of a third world country.

Brock has no family, takes no salary and has no home. He is completely dedicated to RAM, as are the doctors and nurses who volunteer their time and expertise. The local response to this RAM clinic in Knoxville was amazing, yet profoundly saddening. Hundreds of people showed up for the clinic, many drove hours to get there and waited up to seven hours just to get a spot in line to be seen — and ultimately, hundreds had to be turned away. These were not Cadillac driving welfare queens, they were average, working Americans who are under insured or have no insurance at all. The most disheartening part of it all is to see how many of these people had avoided seeking medical treatment for years because they couldn’t afford it and are now reduced to begging for help. It’s a microcosm of our medical system and it’s a damn ugly sight in the world’s wealthiest nation.

Bush, the red phone, and voicemail

This little comic spin by Andy Borowitz would be humorous, except that it's easy to imagine Bush actually doing this!

BUSH SAYS HE LETS RED PHONE GO TO VOICE MAIL

President George W. Bush commented on Sen. Hillary Clinton's controversial "red phone" campaign ads at the White House today, telling reporters, "When that red phone rings, I just let it go straight to voicemail."

Mr. Bush rarely comments about the Democratic presidential contest, but he said that he had to speak up about Sen. Clinton's red phone ads because he found them "so confusing."

"If I answered the red phone every time it rang, I would never get any sleep," Mr. Bush said. "Sometimes it starts ringing at 9 PM, and I am already tucked in by then."

Mr. Bush said that "there's nothing so important that it can't wait until tomorrow, or whenever I remember to check my voicemail."

In a rebuke of Sen. Clinton, Mr. Bush added, "If she doesn't know about letting your calls go straight to voicemail, I don't think she has the experience to be president."

Campaigning in Houston, former President Bill Clinton took issue with Mr. Bush's remarks, telling reporters, "When I get a call at 3 AM, I always pick up, if you know what I mean."

Pressed to explain exactly what he meant, the former president said, "Three o'clock in the morning -- come on! Odds are we're talking about a booty call."

Shortly after his "booty call" remark, the Clinton campaign said that they were revising the former president's itinerary to focus on states that had already voted in February.

Elsewhere, Sen. John McCain released a new series of campaign ads, showing him answering a telegraph key at 3 A.M.

Andy Borowitz is a comedian and writer whose work appears in The New Yorker and The New York Times, and at his award-winning humor site, BorowitzReport.com.

Thank you, Bush & Cheney

For the present state of affairs, Republicans can thank themselves for voting for Bush & Cheney. (Twice!) Ignoring the warnings of the rest of us who were seeing clearly where the neocons were taking us, the dyed-in-the-wool Republicans continued (and some even now, STILL continue) to support the Bush/Cheney regime. Oh yes, and we must thank the Supreme Court for selecting Bush & Cheney for us in the first place, even though the majority had not voted for them.

The rest of us have had to endure the horrible ride to which we have been subjected, which is now ending in financial disaster for our country and its middle-class citizens. The finally admitted "recession" is sliding downward into the big "D" word that no one wants to utter...and all the world's citizens are looking on in dismay, knowing their economic future is tied to ours. Thank you, Bush & Cheney. Thank you, Republicans. Thank you, Democratic Congress members who refused to initiate impeachment against these dangerous, power-and-greed-driven idiots.

As a Democratic president in 2009 desperately searches for ways to stem the tide of disasters brought on us by the worst administration in U.S. history, we can be certain of one thing: the Republicans who voted for Bush & Cheney (Twice!) will be screaming that everything is all the fault of the Democrats.

That's the way it is on Bizarro World where millions of us are stuck, through no seeming fault of our own. Let us Pray.

1943 Guide to Hiring Women

Here's a sample of what women have had to put up with over the years from patronizing men--they talk about the women as if they were pets and certainly not the equals of men -- and had to be given careful instructions and be watched over constantly--AARGHHH!....Wouldn't you love to haul off and punch the guy who wrote this crap???? This actually makes me want to vote for Hillary! (As an "older woman" now, I would have a hard time "adapting myself" and of course I "tend to be cantankerous and fussy"--so please ignore everything I've just said.) ;-) I have to admit: we've come a long way, baby!

Panel recommends all kids get flu shots

My own opinion: I do NOT agree with this recommendation. Flu shots
contain thimerosol (mercury)--and much of the time, as it was this year,
the vaccine they give turns out not to cover the flu that actually makes
its way through the community. I would not give mercury to any child
(or adult) in any form. I hope parents pay no heed to this ridiculous
addition to the already too-many vaccinations our kids have to
undergo--and which often actually make them sick.

Don't stop taking anti-depressants, doctors urge

The following article tells it all. Big Pharma is probably inundating doctors everywhere with telegrammed warnings and stepped-up visits from their detail men, etc. begging the docs not to discontinue prescribing Prozac and other similar drugs! My god, imagine how much money they would lose if people stopped taking Prozac! Horrors! We can't have THAT! Nope, keep those millions of folks on drugs--even the ones proven not to work--and WORSE, the ones that actually harm them! Don't let them begin to take responsibility for their own health--mental and physical. Don't let them find out that simple homeopathic remedies (costing $5 or $6 each) often do a far better job--with no side effects! The AMA and big pharma companies banded together in the early part of the 20th century to rid the U.S. of homeopathy in favor of drugs which were far more dangerous and cost a lot more--and were far more profitable. And so it goes....the people were, once again, the foils and victims of big money and big corporations. We've all seen how the insurance companies got in on the action, too. We'll insure you and take your money, but please don't ask us to pay out!

The good news: Because more physicians are discovering homeopathy works so well, it is making inroads back into our health system--but at the cost of trillions of dollars and millions of patients lost for so many years in the allopathic realm that took over medical "health" care in our country. Homeopathy is based on like cures like -- and less is more. Open-minded doctors have discovered the almost miraculous types of cures that can be rendered through homeopathy. Unfortunately, there are very few open minds in AMA-trained physicians. It is the rare doctor who, having been trained in one way, will look for other methods--especially ones that will require further training. They fall into the AMA/pharmaceutical trap--and stay there, nurtured and cajoled by the pharmaceutical companies who wine and dine them royally. They don't stop to wonder why they are treating a symptom instead of looking for the cause of the symptom. Homeopathy goes to the root, which is why the results seem so "miraculous." It's actually very simple. If you treat the root cause with the right remedy, the symptoms will disappear. Hmmm....a little different from the western approach: you have a headache? Here, take this pain killer--one of the side effects of which is "headache." :-( You have stress and emotional problems? Here, take Prozac--(which has now been found to not even be effective)! And on and on...

I just finished reading Donna Nakazawa's new book, The Autoimmune Epidemic: Bodies Gone Haywire in a World out of Balance. In it there is quite an interesting story of a doctor who found out first-hand as a patient how the western medical system works--or didn't work for him. After having been almost killed by medical "mistakes," one of which initially incurred during an unnecessary medical test, he was forced to find a cure for himself from an auto-immune disease caused by one of the "mistakes." After having completely debilitated him, the doctors told him, "Sorry--there is nothing more we can do for you." So he turned to something his mother had told him years ago about nutrition and diet and how important a part that plays in the healing (and preventive) process. Along the way toward his cure, he discovered some essential truths. His name is Dr. Gerard Mullin, one-time head of gastroenterology in a big hospital, who is now director of Integrative GI Nutrition at Johns Hopkins Hospital, and who shares with his patients what he learned as a patient himself.

Although I know some of western medicine works well--and I certainly don't advocate leaving it completely, I think we need to expand our vision and get things more in balance. It took me too many years of thinking allopathic medicine was all we had to rely on, before I learned there were other ways. As that old Pennsylvania Dutch saying goes--and is getting more truthful all the time for me: Too soon old, Too late schmart. (~.~) :-( It pays to have discrimination and knowledge--in all things, including medical treatment choices.

Just my own opinion, of course.
