Christie was a ticking time bomb -- so True.

Christie is one of the most unlikeable characters on the political stage, soon to exit it forever. I don't see how he can recover from this, especially after some of his aides get immunity from prosecution and tell the truth. The following essay gives a clear evaluation of Christie, his personality and his administration

Chris Christie was a ticking time bomb. It was only a matter of time before he blew up

If there is a singular skill that separates presidential contenders from presidential “also-rans” it is discipline. The ability to stay on message, to keep emotions in check, to avoid distractions, to understand that the long-game must take precedence over the daily news cycle and to dodge the inevitable political headaches that emerge is essential to political success on a national stage.

Obama has it; W had it; Nixon (at least in public) was practically the king. Here’s who doesn’t have it: Chris Christie, and it’s the reason that his political career is on life support.

Even before the bombshell revelations that his top aides actively sought to punish the Democratic mayor of Fort Lee, New Jersey by closing down on-ramps to the George Washington Bridge, it was fairly obvious that Christie was a man whose decisions were guided as much by impulse and emotion as political calculation.

There have been not one or two but repeated losses of his temper, even with his own constituents. This video of Christie yelling at a skeptic on the Jersey boardwalk while holding aloft an ice cream cone spoke to Christie’s remarkable inability (particularly for a politician) to control his temper. He couldn’t even prevent himself from yelling at a teacher who questioned his education policies only days before Election Day in November.

To be sure, lots of politicians are thin-skinned. But Christie is different, with his almost complete lack of impulse control. An article last month in the New York Times highlighted Christie’s struggles. After John F McKeon, a New Jersey assemblyman, offered a mild critique of Christie’s relationship with public sector employees, he received a handwritten note complaining about it. “What governor would take the time to write a personal note over a relatively innocuous comment?” asked McKeon.

But this behavior fits a regular pattern of reprisals and retaliation against anyone who even mildly crosses Christie.

A disciplined politician would understand the pitfalls of making so many political enemies and of acting so harshly in public. But not Christie, which leads us to this week’s “Bridge-gate”.

What is perhaps most striking about these actions is that they were directed at a small-town mayor who refused to endorse Christie in a gubernatorial race in 2013 that he had basically no chance of losing. Christie was always going to wallop his Democratic opponent Barbara Buono. The real subtext of the race was the governor’s entrance onto the national stage as a Republican presidential contender. If there was ever a moment to let bygones be bygones or to turn the other cheek, it was here.

Of course, Christie has decided to use the Captain Renault defense, “‘I’m shocked, shocked that my aides would do this.” He even claimed (we can only assume with a straight face) that, “this behavior is not representative of me or my administration in any way.” It’s the rhetoric equivalent of a drone strike on irony.

We may never know for sure, but personally, I don’t buy for a second the notion that Christie’s deputy chief of staff and his hand-picked choice for the Port Authority were operating independently of Christie. That he has a long track record of personally striking back at political opponents who cross him – but sat this one out – stretches credibility. As the New York Times noted:

Even Republican lawmakers who have supported Mr Christie tell stories of being punished when he perceived them as not supporting him enough.

At this point, the New Jersey governor has lost any right to the benefit of the doubt.

Even if Christie wasn’t involved, what does it say about the culture in the governor’s office? What kind of shop is he running when one of his most trusted aides would feel comfortable conspiring with the Port Authority to use lane closures as a way to punish Christie’s political opponents? Even if Christie was at arms length on the bridge closures, his fingerprints are all over this.

It’s why that when the smoke clears not only will Christie no longer be the front-runner for the Republican nomination – there’s a reasonable chance he’ll no longer be Governor of New Jersey. To be sure, it was always going to be difficult for Christie to win over Republican primary voters – what with his willingness to shake hands with President Obama and his feint toward political moderation. But the bigger problem for Christie was cultural. Republicans voters like a tough guy, but there’s toughness and then there’s Jersey toughness. These aren’t the same things.

Above all what today’s revelations demonstrate is that he simply lacked the discipline to be a national figure, to undergo political scrutiny and to respond to political differences with something other than fury. He was a ticking time bomb as a politician. It was only a matter of time before he blew up.

Republican platform

Republican platform: no unemployment insurance, cut food assistance, no access to comprehensive healthcare for poor and middle class, no jobs programs including infrastructure spending, oh and tax cuts for business and the super wealthy along with deregulating everything and opening all public land for mining and petroleum exploration.

(Little bit of cynical satire here) My gosh, who wouldn't want this?  I predict a landslide victory for Republicans in the next (s)election.

Fracking contamination found in well water in 4 states

A privileged glimpse into the obvious, finally being reported by mainstream news! BUT. Do you think anyone in power will do anything about it?  Who's going to go up against the corporate bullies?

Interesting: Bob Dean: The Coming of Nibiru

This video is on the intriguing side. Bob Dean is a great guy--I have seen and talked with him several times at UFO conferences I've attended over the decades.  Bob is a sincere, honest gentleman, in every sense of the word "gentleman" -- and has acquired more information from inside government contacts than any other human I've ever met. How much of that info. is genuine (as far as the sources go) and how much of it will manifest in the world as time goes on is unknown and debatable, as even he admits.  He is a very intelligent, gracious and compassionate human being (last time I met and spoke with him, he raised my hand to his lips and kissed it as we said goodbye--where else can you find old-fashioned gentlemen like that these days? (~.~)) and I know he always tries to get to the bottom of info. he hears.  He's humbly honest and admits when he doesn't know the answers to questions put to him.  However, the fact that he has been a part of the "old boy" network of former high military career men rates him as a good source of inside info. from generals, admirals and the like who seemingly want to get hidden information out to the public.  He himself had the highest level of security clearance in a position at SHAPE (Supreme Headquarters Allied Powers Europe) when he first was informed of the ET presence on the earth. If you watch the following video in which he is interviewed (probably in 2011), he tells a bit about that experience in the very beginning.  As you'll see, he is an extremely articulate man, and his open-hearted sincerity is obvious for all to see.  There are many other interviews of Bob on youtube for those who find this one interesting.  He is a waterfall-like fount of information.  In this particular video, he is mainly addressing the Zacharia Sitchen info on Planet X or (as it is called) Nibiru. You can find out more about the Planet X predictions on youtube or in Sitchen's books available on Amazon, if it piques your interest.

Video (about 106 mins):

Here are the liner notes from this
Project Camelot interview of renowned
ufologist, Bob Dean:

"When we met with Bob Dean in May
2007, he stated that ours would be his
last interview. After its publication, we
received more mail - all of it generous
and appreciative, without exception -
than for any other interview we have
ever done. We were therefore quite
delighted when he agreed to talk with
us on record once again.

"When we asked Bob what he wanted
to discuss, he told us that he had important
news, from his own inside sources, about
Nibiru: the highly controversial Planet X.
This video contains extremely important
information for all students of Planet X to
consider.

"True to form, Bob recounts other intriguing
stories, including the NRO's classified
discovery of "a goddamn boat" high on
Mount Ararat, and confirmation of Henry
Deacon's report that the Anunnaki are
active on present-day Mars. His humanity,
his dignity, his integrity and his humor all
shine once again in this new video, and we
are very confident that everyone who so
enjoyed Bob's 2007 interview with us will
find this just as entertaining, interesting
and valuable."

Prophetic comic strip from 1994

Thursday, January 2, 2014

20 years ago, this comic predicted...

Amanda Warren
Activist Post

How Did Tom Tomorrow Know Yesterday? 20 years ago, a comic predicted what some are only finding out now...

Somewhere in my possession, is a cut out of a New Yorker comic from 1999 by Dan Perkins. He is better known as Tom Tomorrow, an independent cartoonist who pens This Modern World. That comic of a futuristic news report is here, by the way.

But even before that and before NSA-surveillance and Edward Snowden were household conversations, before "if you've got nothing to hide" became a common retort, Tom's comic below was published in Spin magazine - in 1994!

The third and fourth panels were likely meant to be slippery-slope satire, not a prediction for today's living reality! Yeah, why bother law enforcement with things like evidence, warrants and due process. Perhaps that, and the privatization of the U.S. prison complex is why we are the world's number one prison capital.

Will Oremus at Slate.com writes that the context for this comic was the mid-nineties NSA introduction of the “Clipper chip,” said to have been abandoned. It was to allow greater use of phone tapping - but only when "legal" to do so, of course. Oremus also notes that this comic might not be as full of impact today because it's so obvious and that the cop in the last panel looks a lot like a certain president. No prizes for guessing which one...

Tom Tomorrow is also known for his comics sardonically introducing kids to "Droney the friendly drone." I highly recommend you do a search for them or check out his archives below.

Like him, love him, leave him; Tom Tomorrow's poignant observations were spot-on more than 20 years ago. He was among the first, if not the very first, independent artists to offer his work freely on the Internet as early as 1992.

Conservatives afraid of Pope's Christianity, not Marxism: Thomas Cahill

http://www.rawstory.com/rs/2014/01/03/thomas-cahill-conservatives-are-afraid-of-popes-pure-christianity-not-pure-marxism/

Conservatives are less concerned with the new pope’s politics than they are with his religious teachings, said scholar and author Thomas Cahill.

Republicans, including right-wing radio host Rush Limbaugh, have criticized comments made by Pope Francis about unfettered free market economies and the lack of concern in capitalist societies for the poor.

“They’re not really afraid of ‘pure Marxism,’” Cahill said, quoting one of Limbaugh’s complaints. “They might be more afraid of ‘pure Christianity,’ which it sounds to me like what he’s spouting.”

Cahill appeared Dec. 27 on “Moyers and Company.”

Pope Francis has spoken “about the absolute necessity” of caring for the poor, Cahill said, which he said was “a necessary part of the Christian message.”

“If you don’t have that, you’re talking about something else,” said Cahill, the author of Jesus’ Little Instruction Book and a biography of Pope John XXIII.

He said the U.S. was going through a crisis that was partially political and partially religious that resulted in Catholic conservatives such as Rep. Paul Ryan (R-WI) championing the market over morals.

“(Ryan is) in favor of capitalism without any room for people who are being left behind,” Cahill said.

The author disputed that Pope Francis opposed capitalism, but he said the pontiff was following the teachings of Jesus.

“That’s his model, obviously,” Cahill said. “It sure as hell isn’t Paul Ryan’s model or Rush Limbaugh’s model or any of these guys. They would like to muffle real Christianity as much as possible.”

He defined “real Christianity” by reciting the opening verses of Matthew 5 – “blessed are the poor in spirit for theirs is the kingdom of heaven (and) blessed are the meek for they shall inherit the earth.”

“The words of Jesus have nothing to do with aggressive economics,” Cahill said.

Pope Francis was most concerned about Christians who were fixated on doctrine at the expense of people.

“It’s not just driving conservatives crazy; it’s driving crazy the people who can only see things one way,” Cahill said. “More than political conservatives, they’re psychological types, and they’re psychological types with religion. Anyone who grew up in any religion knows these people.”

These fixations on doctrine were rooted in an essential part of human nature, Cahill said, alluding to the books he’s written on the Bible and religious figures and his series on Western civilization.

“I’ve come to the conclusion that there are only two movements in the world,” Cahill said. “One is kindness, and the other is cruelty. I don’t think there’s anything else, really.”

This cruelty manifested itself in religion as exclusion, he said.

“That’s not how Jesus spoke,” Cahill said. “Jesus is the one who lifted the weeping prostitute off the floor and said, ‘Your sins are forgiven you.’ He had no problem with sexual deviance of any kind. It’s we who have that problem.”

A touching true story for the New Year

Happy New Year! The below short story by Kent Nerburn is one of the most profoundly moving essays I've ever read. I've been in contact with Kent, who gave me permission to share the story and confirmed its veracity from his days as a cab driver. I can't think of a better message for this first email of the new year. May your year ahead be filled with love, joy, and meaningful connections.

With best wishes for a transformed year ahead,
Fred Burks for PEERS and WantToKnow.info

The Cab Ride I'll Never Forget

Twenty years ago, I drove a cab for a living. One time I arrived in the middle of the night for a pick up at a building that was dark except for a single light in a ground floor window.

Under these circumstances, many drivers would just honk once or twice, wait a minute, then drive away. But I had seen too many impoverished people who depended on taxis as their only means of transportation. Unless a situation smelled of danger, I always went to the door. This passenger might be someone who needs my assistance, I reasoned to myself. So I walked to the door and knocked.

"Just a minute," answered a frail, elderly voice.

I could hear something being dragged across the floor. After a long pause, the door opened. A small woman in her 80's stood before me. She was wearing a print dress and a pillbox hat with a veil pinned on it, like somebody out of a 1940s movie. By her side was a small nylon suitcase.

The apartment looked as if no one had lived in it for years. All the furniture was covered with sheets. There were no clocks on the walls, no knickknacks or utensils on the counters. In the corner was a cardboard box filled with photos and glassware.

"Would you carry my bag out to the car?" she said. I took the suitcase to the cab, then returned to assist the woman. She took my arm and we walked slowly toward the curb. She kept thanking me for my kindness.

"It's nothing," I told her. "I just try to treat my passengers the way I would want my mother treated."

"Oh, you're such a good boy," she said. When we got in the cab, she gave me an address, then asked, "Could you drive through downtown?"

"It's not the shortest way," I answered quickly.

"Oh, I don't mind," she said. "I'm in no hurry. I'm on my way to a hospice."

I looked in the rear view mirror. Her eyes were glistening.

"I don't have any family left," she continued. "The doctor says I don't have very long."

I quietly reached over and shut off the meter. "What route would you like me to take?" I asked.

For the next two hours, we drove through the city. She showed me the building where she had once worked as an elevator operator. We drove through the neighborhood where she and her husband had lived when they were newlyweds. She had me pull up in front of a furniture warehouse that had once been a ballroom where she had gone dancing as a girl.

Sometimes she'd ask me to slow in front of a particular building or corner and would sit staring into the darkness, saying nothing.

As the first hint of sun was creasing the horizon, she suddenly said, "I'm tired. Let's go now."

We drove in silence to the address she had given me.

It was a low building, like a small convalescent home, with a driveway that passed under a portico. Two orderlies came out to the cab as soon as we pulled up. They were solicitous and intent, watching her every move. They must have been expecting her. I opened the trunk and took the small suitcase to the door. The woman was already seated in a wheelchair.

"How much do I owe you?" she asked, reaching into her purse.

"Nothing," I said.

"You have to make a living," she answered.

"There are other passengers."

Almost without thinking, I bent and gave her a hug. She held onto me tightly.

"You gave an old woman a little moment of joy," she said. "Thank you."

I squeezed her hand, then walked into the dim morning light. Behind me, a door shut. It was the sound of the closing of a life.

I didn't pick up any more passengers that shift. I drove aimlessly, lost in thought. For the rest of that day, I could hardly talk. What if that woman had gotten an angry driver, or one who was impatient to end his shift? What if I had refused to take the run, or had honked once, then driven away?

On a quick review, I don't think that I have done anything more important in my life. We're conditioned to think that our lives revolve around great moments. But great moments often catch us unaware—beautifully wrapped in what others may consider a small one.

New island forming off near Japan looks like Snoopy

Bonin Island - An active Volcano about
170 miles south of Japan is in the process
of creating a new island.

Originating very close to Nishi-no-shima
("Western Island"), the new land has steadily
grown and is now beginning to overlap with
Nishi-no-shima, merging the two.

A twitter user @tekken8810 pointed out its
similarity to Charles Schulz's iconic cartoon
character, Snoopy. And once you see it, it
cannot be unseen.

Unfortunately the volcano is still quite active,
so the island probably won't remain in its cute
beagle shape for long.

Worse, any earthquakes associated with the
formation of this island in the area could spell a
global calamity, if the currently-listing Reactor
#3 building falls over and releases another
enormous airborne plume of hot particles
throughout the Northern Hemisphere.

NASA Admits to Blue Star Kachina

I'm feeling more and more like Alice in Wonderland all the time --- Things are getting curiouser and curiouser....

Video: (about 8 and a half mins):

This is a very interesting short video, compiled from several sources, the information in which would explain a lot about the direction our government has been heading in the past few years. Perhaps you have noticed, as I have, that lately there have been a number of science programs about asteroids on TV, warning us that Earth is constantly being threatened by possible hits from asteroids but has so far been fortunate to have avoided such hits (with no guarantees for the future).

Enormous changes in our earth life, especially ecologically and climate-wise, have been so sudden and swift that it's hard to keep up with them. Have you seen the documentaries Extreme Ice and Chasing Ice about our vanishing glaciers? We've all been made aware of increasingly dramatic weather events, wreaking havoc on those affected by them.  Add to that the disaster at Fukushima and what we thought could happen only in science fiction is now happening to us, as radiation from that site encircles the globe.  Dire political and economic changes have accompanied the foreboding ecological changes, steadily increasing the ranks of the poor.  The middle class is fast disappearing, while the elite keep exponentially adding to their Midas-like wealth.

Some of my thoughts on anomalies that have been reported in the last year (usually not by mainstream media) are now beginning to fall into place regarding a possible disaster scenario being kept from us to avoid panic in the streets.  Remember the fairly recent youtube videos/reports of loud booming noises, suddenly coming out of nowhere, heard in many different cities across the globe? (see some of these links below). These are never addressed by any world government and have only been given side glances from the mainstream media, if at all.  We know of many reports of deep underground bases that have been built for secret military purposes.   There have even been govt.-approved open reports on programs like 60 Minutes of the underground bunker cities that have been prepared for our White House and Congressional leaders "in case of emergency."

Could it be that the loud booming sounds are caused by blasting in the creation of underground cities, in preparation for a possible asteroid close-call heading our way?--which is known to the elite but not to the masses?   For years, Taos, New Mexico residents were hearing a humming sound coming from under the earth--it became known as the Taos Hum. Other communities have experienced and reported that same humming sound.  It makes sense to me that the hum could come from heavy machinery, drilling large holes in the earth to create underground bases, cities and tunnels. What could their purpose possibly be?  We know from those who have worked at Area 51 in Nevada that there is a gigantic underground base there.

Millions of us are now aware that UFOs are not imagined, and that alien civilizations have been visiting/monitoring Earth for centuries. Their presence here can no longer be denied.  That information has been kept from the public at large, for reasons of maintaining control over the population.   Many high-ranking military and government employees are casting off their secrecy vows, telling of the alien presence here--and of the technological information we have back-engineered through contact with alien civilizations and their crashed vehicles. (For more information on this, go to:
http://www.disclosureproject.org/ and
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7vyVe-6YdUk )  Form your own opinions after reading and hearing reports from those who claim to have been involved in many projects kept hidden from us ("we, the people").  One interesting man is Col. Philip Corso--an interview with him is at: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DpffcjnXMx0

At any rate, I hope to have aroused your curiosity -- and, if any of this interests you, I encourage you to do some online sleuthing for yourself.  Of course, some things are beyond our control (most things, it seems to me, as I grow older and hopefully wiser (~.~).   It may be too late for us to avoid possible catastrophe, which seems to be looming over us in so many ways, but an aware public has a greater chance of avoiding disaster than a lulled, sheep-like population.  Look up things like HAARP, Majestic 12, MK Ultra, and chemtrails and form your own opinions about what you read.  The Wikipedia site on government experimentation is at:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Unethical_human_experimentation_in_the_United_States.

An educated public are less likely to follow the government and its leaders blindly and unquestioningly.  Watch the 8-minute video below from Forbidden Knowledge re. a newly discovered planetoid that some are calling the Blue Star Kachina foretold in Hopi Indian lore.

Is the US government's preparation
for a vast, astronomical catastrophe
(as long-prophesied by the Native
American Hopi Nation from the
Southwestern US) the reason why
the government has become a
"Police State," as many of those
recently-polled agreed, in a C-SPAN
post from last night?

This video is a compilation of History
Channel programming with BBC and
footage from a recent Chinese rocket
launch, with undeniable views of a
large blue planetoid visible from space.
