Sam Berns died today, and the world is lesser for his passing.  I don't know if you've seen the HBO documentary on this boy (Life According to Sam) but it showed his wisdom and courage--and remarkable spirit.  He is an old soul. I'm sending him many good wishes today as he continues his soul journey.  During the short time he spent on earth, he taught us all some valuable lessons on how to live life well.  Viewing the documentary on Sam brought tears to my eyes and laughter to my heart.  He and his parents were perfectly matched -- they are both doctors, and his mother has devoted her life to finding a cure for progeria.  In her research, she discovered that one drug had the ability to prolong the life of a progeria child.  Sam lived 4 years past the age most children with progeria die -- I believe it was because of his mother's work -- and because of the love this family felt for each other and then shared with the world.

God bless you, Sam. You are an inspiration.
