Too few are aware of the global catastrophe caused by Fukushima disaster

Voice crying in the wilderness:  We are experiencing a global wakeup call re the dangers of nuclear power -- but how many are paying attention?  Today's news tells of the tons of debris washing up on America's western shores from the Fukushima nuclear disaster--with the EPA admitting they have no way to deal with it.  Another earthquake occurred in Tokyo today as well.  The radiation levels on the west coast  (particularly in our area of central/northern California, in Oregon, and Washington state) are very high but are not being measured by the officials, no doubt because to do so would make apparent to the people how dangerous the situation really is.  There is very little in the mainstream news about any of this and little talk of doing away with nuclear power entirely.  The risk of Japan having another quake in the Fukushima region is extremely high, and Reactor #4 would, almost without a doubt, have a complete collapse, spewing tons more deadly radiation into the atmosphere.

Excerpt:
Most of the world community is still unaware of the extremely profound and far-reaching effects that the Fukushima nuclear disaster has had. If the nations of the world really understood the implications of the actual ‘fallout’ – past, current and future – the current nuclear energy paradigm would be systematically shut down. For those of us who are in the know, it is incumbent upon each of us to disseminate the relevant information/data necessary to forever close down the nuclear power industry around the globe.

A Special Report On the Fukushima Nuclear Catastrophe

“Does anyone in their right mind believe that nuclear power plants can ever be designed, engineered or constructed to withstand 9.0 earthquakes followed by 15 meter high tsunamis? Sorry if we offend, but such a display of so deadly a combination of ignorance and arrogance must represent the very height of hubris. Particularly in view of the inevitable consequences which have manifested at Fukushima, how is it that so few saw this pre-ordained and disastrous outcome, except by willful blindness?”
— Japan: A Nation Consigned To Nuclear Armageddon

Numerous headlines over the past few weeks have been relentless in trumpeting Japan’s begrudging response to this global wakeup call. For the first time since nuclear power has been used in the land of Nippon, all 55 nuclear power plants now sit idle. This is of course very good news for the people of Japan. The question now remains how to go about remediating all of these vulnerable and unsafe nuclear reactors. Particularly because of those nuclear plants that are located anywhere along the Japanese coastline is this remediation imperative an existential necessity.

AND READ THIS, from article at: http://www.infowars.com/fukushima-is-falling-apart-are-you-ready-for-a-mass-extinction-event/:

If they are MOX fuel, containing 6% plutonium, one fuel rod has the potential to kill 2.89 billion people. If this pool collapses, as Senator Wyden is now saying, we would face a mass extinction event from the release of radiation in those rods.

That is, if we aren’t in one already. Nuke experts like Arnie Gundersen and Helen Caldicott are prepared to evacuate their families to the southern hemisphere if that happens. It is that serious.

So now you know, if you didn’t before. We are in big trouble.

Thirteen months have passed since the Fukushima reactors exploded, and a U.S. Senator finally got off his ass and went to Japan to see what is going on over there. What he saw was horrific. And now he is saying that we are in big trouble.See the letter he sent to U.S. Ambassador to Japan Ichiro Fujisaki, Secretary of Energy Steven Chu, Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, and NRC’s Chairman Gregory Jaczko here.  But what is so ironic about this is that we have been in this heap of trouble since March of 2011. March 17th, to be exact, when the plume of radioactive materials began bombarding the west coast of California. And Oregon. And Washington. And British Columbia. And later Maine, Europe, and everywhere in between.  Independent researchers, nuke experts, and scientists, from oceanography to entomology and everywhere in between, have been trying to sound the alarm ever since.

Repug Billionaires Gearing Up to Finance More Lies

by Dave Johnson | May 18, 2012

There is a news report that yet another right-wing billionaire is going to spend even more millions to run even more poisonous, divisive, racist, degrading, insulting, lying, character-assassination ads designed to turn people against government and democracy. And an added bonus (for Republicans) will be turning people away from even voting. They're going to do this because it works -- for them and the billionaires who back them.

Bilderberg Conference coming up -- new plans for the masses will be set in place

I'll bet most people in our country and world have never heard of the Bilderbergs.  Yet, these are the self-appointed "elite" people who plan our future for us peasants.  This group strongly influences what happens on the world stage each year...

OCCUPY BILDERBERG
by David Swanson

We protest the G-8 and NATO, but not Bilderberg. Why?

Do you have to be xenophobic, paranoid, isolationist, or libertarian to protest a secretive gathering of over 100 billionaires, industrialists, media barons, and politicians working to shape our public sphere, or has the left dropped the ball? Is it time for Occupy to step in?

From May 31 to June 3, 2012, at the Westfields Marriott Washington Dulles Hotel, in Chantilly, Va., the Bilderberg Group is expected to gather behind closed doors. This exclusive club will rent the entire hotel, encircle it with armed guards, and keep everyone far away, including the media -- except for those special members of the media who will take part but never report a word of what goes on.

Wikipedia calls Bilderberg: "an annual, unofficial, invitation-only conference of approximately 120 to 140 guests from North America and Western Europe, most of whom are people of influence. About one-third are from government and politics, and two-thirds from finance, industry, labour, education and communications. Meetings are closed to the public."

Bilderberg calls itself: "leading citizens on both sides of the Atlantic that Western Europe and North America" who hold "regular, off-the-record discussions" of "common problems - from trade to jobs, from monetary policy to investment, from ecological challenges to the task of promoting international security. . . . There usually are about 120 participants of whom about two-thirds come from Europe and the balance from North America. About one-third is from government and politics, and two-thirds from finance, industry, labour, education and communications."

Does this group of "leading citizens" look representative of the people's interests?

Bilderberg says this was its agenda four years ago:

* Cyber-terrorism
* A Nuclear-Free World
* Managing Financial Turbulence
* US Foreign Policy Without Change
* How Serious Are the Threats on Our Economies
* Islam in Europe
* Africa
* Afghanistan, Challenge for the West
* Iran-Pakistan
* A Look at the Future
* The Mounting Threat of Protectionism
* Russia
* After Bush: The Future of US-EU Relations
* Current Affairs: US Elections

Scholars have credited Bilderberg with significant influence in all sorts of disastrous policies from NAFTA to the current push for war with Iran.

One analysis comes from Andrew Kakabadse, a management professor at the UK's Cranfield University:

"There is no conspiracy in Kakabadse's eyes, as Bilderberg has no formal influence whatsoever. 'On the other hand, it has the most tremendous influence since it shapes opinions at the highest levels. Bilderberg is for leaders what the annual medical conference is for doctors. In the latter, certain delegates are more active than others and at some stage the prevailing medical thinking is driven in one particular direction. These regular meetings shape the way the dominant medical theory and practice develops, to the point that the way things are going feels normal and nobody asks for the alternative to the dominant medical paradigms anymore.' The same can be said for world leadership, Kakabadse argues.

"British journalist Jon Ronson, who was invited to a conference by Bilderberg organisers, described the relationship between conference organisers and aspiring political leaders in attendance: 'They'll get an up-and-coming politician who they think may be president or prime minister one day, and as globalist industrialist leaders who believe that politics shouldn't be in the hands of politicians, they try and influence them with wise words in the corridors outside sessions.' Kakabadse calls this process 'smart power'. The shaping of the prevailing opinions amongst the world's leading decision-makers is 'so smart that people don't even know that they are being led', he says. 'In the end, they don't even realize that there are alternative questions to be asked.'"

Is this healthy for democracy?

Or is there a desperate need here for somebody to be mic checked?

Dubya Bush's name is toxic -- Romney won't mention it

Ya' gotta' laugh at the ridiculous aspects of politics.  The Republicans are trying to pretend Dubya Bush never happened.  Mentioning his name would be like touching the third rail. Which is why I don't think Jeb Bush can even be considered for the vice presidential slot.  After the Cheney/Dubya debacle that has brought our country to ruin, "Bush" is a dirty word for the Repugs, even though Romney would doom our country to follow the same disastrous ideological path, should he become president.  The following article is from crooksandliars.com:

Presumptive Republican presidential nominee Mitt Romney is refusing to even utter George W. Bush's name after the former president endorsed him in an elevator on Tuesday.

"I'm for Mitt Romney," Bush had blurted out to ABC News on Tuesday as the doors of the elevator closed on him in Washington, DC where he was giving a speech on human rights.

Speaking to a crowd of supporters in St. Petersburg, Florida on Wednesday, Romney would only refer to Bush as President Barack Obama's "predecessor."

"[Obama] was very critical of his predecessor for the debts the predecessor put in place," Romney remarked. "It sure is true that you can't blame one party or the other for all the debts this country has because both parties, in my opinion, have spent too much and borrowed too much."

"But he was very critical of his predecessor because the predecessor put together four trillion dollars of debt over eight years," the former Massachusetts governor added.

The candidate later returned to the "predecessor" line again: "I find it incomprehensible that a president could come to office and call his predecessor's record irresponsible and unpatriotic, and then do almost nothing to fix it."

In a statement to CNN on Tuesday, Romney spokeswoman Andrea Saul "welcomed" the endorsement but also refused to mention Bush by name.

"We welcome the president's support, as we welcomed his father's," Saul said

How bad can conservative Catholicism get? Read this to find out.

And a Girl Shall Terrify Them

The bizarre case of Paige Sultzbach — and the all-boys team that forfeited a championship rather than play against her

By Charles P. Pierce on

In his invaluable What Jesus Meant, historian and author Garry Wills reminds us that, during his time as a thoroughgoing Galilean religious nuisance, Himself did not take the time to make priests, create a "Church," or, certainly, devise in his own memory an inflated medieval anachronism like the modern papacy. I have found this helpful to remember whenever "faith" is used as an excuse by elements of organized religion to treat other members of the human race as inferior. Find another excuse. The Gospels are not your alibi.

We had another little somethin'-somethin' in that regard this past week out in Arizona. The baseball team from Mesa Preparatory Academy made it all the way to the finals of the Arizona Charter Athletic Association's tournament, where the Monsoons — and how cool is that, by the way? — were scheduled to meet Our Lady of Sorrows, a Catholic charter school from Phoenix that is run by the Society of St. Pius X, about which much, much more anon. As it happens, the Monsoons have a freshperson second baseperson named Paige Sultzbach, who is slick with the glove around the bag and who is also a female person. (Just for the record, Mesa's archery team is coed as well.) Paige was a softball player in junior high, but, because Mesa doesn't offer a girls' softball team, she tried out, and made, the boys' varsity baseball team, which is a formidable accomplishment for a 15-year-old. Her coaches and male teammates supported her, and good on them for doing that, too. This is the kind of story that makes celebrating the anniversary of Title IX worthwhile. Except that her opponents in the title game disagree, and they've dragged Jesus in as an accessory before the fact.

Despite the fact — or, the cynical heart would murmur, because of the fact — that Mesa and Ms. Sultzbach whacked them around twice this season, including an 11-3 pasting back on April 26, in their own ballpark, Our Lady of Sorrows forfeited the championship game rather than play against Paige Sultzbach, ace keystone-sacker and female person. (Being far classier than her opponents, Ms. Sultzbach sat out the two regular-season games at Our Lady of Sorrows in deference to her opponents.) Here is Our Lady of Sorrows's official excuse for not playing in the championship game.

"Teaching our boys to treat ladies with deference, we choose not to place them in an athletic competition where proper boundaries can only be respected with difficulty," the statement read. "Our school aims to instill in our boys a profound respect for women and girls."

This is all my left eyebrow, of course, unless you consider breaking up a double play to be some kind of sexual thrill ride. (OK, I know some TV baseball analysts who … but never mind.) But to truly understand it, you have to understand what the Society of St. Pius X is all about, and to understand that, you have to understand a little about the dead pope after whom the society was named. Pius X, who reigned from 1903 to 1914, was a steadfast opponent of what was then called "modernism," and he accelerated the momentum of the Church toward conservative theology, a dynamic that did not exhaust itself finally until the opening of the Second Vatican Council. Which brings us to the society that bears his name, and which also sponsors Our Lady of Sorrows, which apparently thinks infield practice qualifies as foreplay.

The most notable thing about the Society of St. Pius X is that they're a bunch of schismatics. Don't take my word for it. Hold a séance and talk to the late Pope Paul VI, who suspended the society's founder, renegade ultramontane French bishop Marcel Lefebvre, in 1975. Undaunted, Lefebvre consecrated four of the society's priests as bishops in 1988, earning him the not inconsiderable wrath of Pope John Paul II, who excommunicated him. The society is a radical rightist organization that has flirted not only with heresy, but with outright political fascism as well. Officials of the society have expressed support for, in no particular order, the French monarchy, the racist platform of Jean-Marie le Pen, and the Vichy government of the 1940s. One of the society's most prominent bishops, Richard Williamson, managed to put up a track record of public pronouncements that make Fred "God Hates Fags" Phelps sound like Francis of Assisi.

Not to put too fine a point on it, Williamson is a raving nutball. Among his other charms, Williamson, who was one of the bishops whose 1988 consecration led to Lefebvre's excommunication, is a devoted Holocaust denier, telling a Swedish television station in 2009, "I believe that the historical evidence is strongly against, is hugely against 6 million Jews having been deliberately gassed in gas chambers as a deliberate policy of Adolf Hitler." (He's also expressed his belief that The Protocols of the Elders of Zion, the ancient Czarist forgery that has ignited anti-Semitism for almost two centuries now, is an authentic document.) He also believes that The Sound of Music imperils souls because it "places friendliness and fun in the place of authority," and that the United States government brought down the towers itself on September 11, 2001.

And, of course, more directly relevant to why Paige Sultzbach didn't get to play for the championship of her league last week, the society is a bit batty on the subject of women. For example, Williamson has argued that a kind of satanic "modernism" entered the church during Vatican II and it has resulted in an increased freedom for women, which is where all this comes back again to Paige Sultzbach, standing out there at second base, waiting for opponents who have taken their theology and gone home.

Williamson is opposed to women attending college, working outside the home, and — I am not making this one up — wearing shorts. "A woman can do a good imitation of handling ideas, but then she will not be thinking properly as a woman," Williamson once said. "Did this lawyeress check her hairdo before coming into court? If she did, she is a distracted lawyer. If she did not, she is one distorted woman."

How Arizona saw fit to allow what is essentially an international anti-Semitic cult to operate a charter private school at all is probably a question for a later date. (Arizona is doing a lot of strange things these days.) Completely by accident, Paige and her teammates had found themselves caught in a dark, dank corner of reactionary Christianity, which admits no light, no warmth, only the cold, dead past, and which stinks of prejudice, decaying dogma, and the worst social offal of the 20th century. There's not a lick of Catholic doctrine that would forbid men and women from playing baseball against each other. There is nothing in the Gospels that would remotely touch upon the situation, and not even St. Paul, that censorious old blatherskite, said anything that can be stretched plausibly to forbid it, and people have been known to use Paul's Epistles like taffy to marshal their arguments.

One thing is certain. Paige Sultzbach and her teammates deserved a chance to play for the championship. They were the only undefeated team in their league, and they'd already beaten Our Lady of Sorrows twice this season. They'd worked hard enough, and played well enough, to be allowed to win their championship on the field, and not have it handed to them because somebody hiding in a chapel somewhere decided not to give them the satisfaction. For all the theological dust they've thrown up to cover their cowardly retreat, Our Lady of Sorrows plainly and simply didn't want to lose to a girl.

This is an embarrassment to sport and to religion, the functional equivalent of bleeding statues and the face of Jesus on the side of the barn. This is the kind of thing of which Blessed John XXIII was trying to rid the Catholic Church when he called on the council to "throw open the windows" and release the stifling air of repression that had built up over the centuries. Our Lady of Sorrows doesn't want to play baseball against Paige Sultzbach because it's run by an organization that harbors an attitude toward women that differs very little from that of Bishop Williamson, its crackpot avatar. And, no, I don't have to "respect" the stand they took, or the beliefs that prompted it, unless I'm also prepared to "respect" the anti-Semitism and conspiracy-mongering that are at the heart of the beliefs in question. I'm not required to be as classy as Paige Sultzbach, state champion.

More news about Fukushima Radiation

Are The Alaskan Airlines Flight Attendants Getting Sick From Fukushima Radiation? I say YES!
Thursday, May 10, 2012 7:39

By Glenn Canady

www.project.nsearch.com

The official story is that hundreds of flight attendants are having their hair fall out and itchy skin rashes because of new uniforms but I'm not buying it!  Here's the official story where they blame hair falling out and skin rashes on the uniforms they got in 2011.  They say it's because of Tributyl phosphate which MAY be embedded in the uniform.  Sounds pretty fishy to me and I'm not buying this explanation for a second!   One clue comes in the statement from one of the attendants that said the problem surfaced when they flew 6-7 days in a row.  The longer you are exposed to high levels of radiation the sooner you develop symptoms of radiation sickness.

The Seattle to Anchorage Alaskan Airlines Flights are Being Exposed to the Most Radiation Anywhere!

The reason I believe that the Alaskan Airlines Flight attendants could be getting sick from the radiation is because those 3 hour flights between Seattle and Anchorage are getting hit with some of the highest radiation levels anywhere right now!  I've taken those flights in the 80s and 90s dozens of times when I used to live in Alaska and travelled to the "Lower 48" as we called it.  They are quite long and they fly high to be above the turbulence.  So you've long flights at high altitude in probably the worst area for radiation in the world right now.  Look at the map below and you'll see that the highest radiation you could possibly get would be flying between Seattle and Anchorage all the time!

There's no question that flight attendants are going to be getting hit with far more radiation now than they were before Fukushima began spewing it's deadly poison.  Who really knows how bad it is because the government shut down all the radiation monitors as soon as Fukushima began melting down!  They also won't even monitor the food for radiation!  They love us so much!

If radiation is hitting these attendants at hundreds of times more radiation than it used to do before Fukushima then I say it's very probable that after being exposed to it for weeks, months and even a year now then the first signs of radiation sickness would be felt by those attendants on these 3 plus hour flights between Seattle and Anchorage.  It just makes sense.  I urge any flight attendant to get their urine tested for radioactive elements and to cut way back on their flights to see if that helps.  My bet is that cutting their flight times will reduce these symptoms no matter what uniform they wear.  It seems ludicrous to me that Alaskan Airlines wouldn't replace all the uniforms IMMEDIATELY but maybe they are delaying because if they go to new ones and the problems persist then they will really have a mutiny on their hands!  Flight attendants go on many more flights than the pilots since there are more rules for pilots and they only let them fly so many hours per month.   So I would expect the flight attendants to show signs of radiation sickness first.

Polar Bears, Seals and More Missing Fur and Exhibiting Sores All Over Their Bodies

Of course we know that Polar Bears seals and other wildlife in Alaska have been spotted with missing fur and strange sores all over their body.  You can read about this here.  I will bet you $5 that this is radiation sickness because nobody had ever seen it before Fukushima.  The Eskimos had never seen it and they've been there a VERY long time!  Of course the "officials" won't admit it but they have no answers on what is causing it which I find patently absurd also.

Nuclear Power is a HUGE scam that has NEVER been needed and MUST be shut down NOW!

Nuclear power is destroying our entire way of life!  It's in the air, water and food now and rapidly spreading.  Our Fake News won't mention it at all of course because their job is to keep you asleep!  Not one mainstream Fake News outlet has even mentioned about shutting these stupid nuclear reactors even though it's very likely that our sun will cause a global power outage within the next 3 years!  A global power outage caused by a massive blast of energy from our sun would cause hundreds of these reactors to melt down with hours!   This is INSANITY!  We must shut down all these reactors NOW and begin deploying Tesla zero point energy devices that can power every home and vehicle on the planet for free!  The sick joke is that we haven't needed even one of these nuclear reactors and they have already KILLED and MAIMED millions.  Nuclear reactors were put there to control the power system and make the stuff they use for nuclear warheads.  As Einstein said, "It's a hell of a way to boil water!"

How Do You Know When the "Authorities" are Lying - When Their Lips are Moving!

When have we EVER been able to really trust the "authorities" anyway?  They've lied to us about Fukushima, GMO, Chemtrails, Fluoride, Aspartame, the Federal Reserve and so much more, so anything they say must be carefully examined because most of the time they will absolutely lie to us.  We talk about all the lies they have told us on Project Nsearch all the time.  It's time for ALL of us to wake up to reality.  The criminals and liars are running the asylum!  How did it get this way?  Because most of you turn on your TV and get lied to each night by your mainstream news!  When you finally figure out just how badly you've been lied to by your TV news you will never pay to get brainwashed again!  You will get active and spread the truth as if your life depended on it -- because it DOES!

GET INVOLVED!

What has this country come to? Hatred is the middle name of the Republican Party

In this essay that cried out to be written, Mr. Pitt is exactly expressing what I have been feeling as I hear the "conservative" ideology being espoused in bigotry and hatred across our country by people who would define themselves as good, kind and loving Christians (such as the minister who advised his flock to beat their kids if they exhibit homosexual traits see: http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2012/05/01/north-carolina-pastor-sea_n_1468618.html?ref=mostpopular). Even with it pointed out to them, I'm sure they wouldn't recognize themselves as the other side of the fanatical Islamic coin they so fear and despise.  As the author says, "this is a fair portion of modern Americana, right up there with Rockwell paintings, Saturday morning cartoons and the Statue of Liberty. I have lost count of the states in this union that are holding votes on who can get married, who can get birth control, who can get basic medical care and who can vote - or not - in this ongoing American experiment. It all boils down to some very simple questions: who is it legal to hate? Who can be banished from their basic American rights? Who is, and who is not?

They call it being 'conservative,' which sounds nice and safe.  Easy does it, right?  Except what these people are espousing and pursuing isn't conservative in the slightest, but instead is radical beyond the bounds of anything we've seen in this country to date, a defenestration of basic Constitutional rights. It is radical on a level shared by practitioners of a harsh seventh-century version of a particular religion you might have heard about once or twice...you know, the scary ones who condemn gay people, who think women are the fountain of all evil, and who think free expression and equality are the gateway to damnation and doom. You might have heard about people like this in the news, oh...somewhere over the last ten years."

AN OPEN LETTER TO THE SICK AT HEART
By William Rivers Pitt

Stop me if you've heard this one before.

A holy man stands before his flock and says, "Dads, the second you see your son dropping the limp wrist, you walk over there and crack that wrist. Man up. Give him a good punch. Ok? You are not going to act like that. You were made by God to be a male and you are going to be a male."

And then the pastor says, "And when your daughter starts acting too butch, you rein her in. And you say, 'Oh, no, sweetheart. You can play sports. Play them to the glory of God. But sometimes you are going to act like a girl and walk like a girl and talk like a girl and smell like a girl, and that means you are going to be beautiful. You are going to be attractive. You are going to dress yourself up.'"

But here's the funny part: after that Pastor gets called out for his psychotic, virulent, hateful rhetoric, he says, "I was using hyperbole in an effort to communicate the importance of the gender distinctions that God created. In the context of the scripture, Mark, chapter 9, Jesus conjures up violent images as well, when he says, 'If your hand is causing you to sin, cut it off.' He's not speaking literally. He's speaking figuratively, using hyperbole to convey the importance of the offense."

Get it?

Beat your fag boys, your butch girls, beat them into line in the name of God...but if you get caught doing it (or espousing it), wave it off as 'hyperbole,' quote holy Scripture to defend yourself, and compare yourself to Jesus...and be sure to make it a non-apology apology by using phrases like "the importance of the offense," i.e. it is the limp-wrist son and the butch daughter who are actually offensive, and not the exhortation - delivered in church, mind you - to beat them because of who they are.

That happened in America not two weeks ago, and if you're fool enough to think the incident was a one-off, a fluke, an aberration, then all I can say to you, sir or ma'am, is good luck to you, good night, go back to sleep, and don't bother reading on from here.

That is a fair portion of modern Americana, right up there with Rockwell paintings, Saturday morning cartoons and the Statue of Liberty.

You might have heard about people like this in the news, oh...somewhere over the last ten years.

Ah. Irony.

The so-called 'holy men' of modern American conservatism are not just a problem for average sinners like you and me. Take, for example, Richard Grennell, who was hired by the Romney campaign as it entered the general election, to be that campaign's national security spokesman, and who was subsequently fired not even 200 hours later...not because Grennell was less than able to man his post - as a former G.W. Bush official, he had enough DC street cred to get the job, if he was shameless enough to put it on his resume - but because he was openly gay.

The hard-right denizens of the GOP base - you know, the ones whose 'holy men' believe in beating the gay out of their children, for openers - rose up in their towering wrath to condemn Romney for such an odious, Godless choice.

Mitt, of course, did the courageous thing. He accepted Grennell's resignation, by which I mean Grennell was sent packing bag and baggage faster than heterosexuality can jump tall, perfectly straight buildings. Because he was gay, and because Mitt didn't want to deal with the 'holy men' frothing on his right flank, a campaign for the highest office in the land threw overboard their national security spokesman before he had time to learn how to use the phones.

As the "news" won't carve the facts of this deplorable mess out as cleanly as is required, here it is in the simplest of terms (and pardon the shouting voice; I'm yelling through a lot of false echoes here):

1. The Republican Party's Candidate For President Hired And Then Fired Their NATIONAL SECURITY SPOKESPERSON In Less Time Than It Takes Me To Feed My Cat;

2. When A Campaign Taps A NATIONAL SECURITY SPOKESPERSON, It Almost Always (like 99.999998% of the time) Means That Person Is The Candidate's Choice for NATIONAL SECURITY ADVISOR Or Some Similarly Important High-Level Post;

3. Ergo, Should Mr. Romney Win The Election In November, All The Far-Right Has To Do Is Whisper "fag" Or "bitch" Or "socialist" At Anyone They Don't Approve Of In Romney's Crew, And That Person Will Be Gone Baby Gone, No Matter Their Qualifications, Because THE CANDIDATE Doesn't Want To Ruffle Any 'Holy' Feathers On His Way To The Grand Prize.

But that's not crazy, right?

Hm.

You want to know the really funny joke?

OK, here it is: Once upon a time, there was a center-right political party that felt like it was losing its way after a guy named Clinton won the White House twenty years ago. So what they did was spend millions and millions of dollars in a radio, television and direct mail campaign aimed at convincing the same Americans who were suffering from their bad ideas that poor people, minorities, women and Democrats were the breathing essence of evil...

...and they concentrated this effort on the specific portion of the country that believes dinosaurs weren't real because they aren't in the Bible (and wow, are there a lot of them)...then, through one of the niftiest sleight-of-hand tricks in political history, they managed to get these people all fired up over abortion, gays and terrorists, and rode the thundering angst they'd created into power all across the land.

Make no mistake, the folks who really ran the party didn't believe any of the crap they were peddling. At all. They spread that garbage as far and wide as possible - wreathing their sales pitch in tones of fear, horror and imminent doom - because they knew the people they were peddling it to would vacuum up quarters from between their couch cushions and send that money along to party headquarters.

The same party people who championed the abolition of Roe v. Wade had, for example, no interest whatsoever in abolishing Roe v. Wade, because if that happened, they'd lose the fattest cash cow they'd ever enjoyed (see: eight years of Reagan, four years of G.H.W.Bush, and eight years of G.W. Bush...twenty years of Republican presidents...yet Roe lived on...and if you hate Roe and voted for these men, ask yourself why).

The ones in charge of this party weren't religious - if you told them dinosaurs didn't exist, they'd laugh in your face - and while they won all sorts of state and local elections screeching about borders and brown people, the anti-others cash sent to party headquarters was spent trying to figure out how to get those minorities they'd spent so much time spurning and denigrating to vote for them...because winning was the thing. Not facts. Not justice. Winning, period.

But all of a sudden - and here's the funny part - the horse got out of the barn and went pounding across the countryside, absolutely beyond control. Twenty years of peddling hate and fear metastasized into a 'Tea Party' base whose real muscle came from championing hate and fear...and the smart boys who started the whole thing two decades ago were left in front of an open barn door wondering how things got so bad so fast.

Suddenly, the worst elements of their dark creation - Christian dominionism, anti-gay zealotry, anti-woman Biblical dudgeon, unabashed racism, cocked-rifle xenophobia, and an all-out assault on even the most meager concepts of government - went from being the crap they'd once ignored as bad noise from their "useful idiots," to being the hood ornament on the careening juggernaut of a party they no longer had control of.

The rest, as they say, is history: their 'Tea Party' opened the floodgates for the kind of publicly-spouted revisionist-history nonsense one might expect from a 19th century tent revival: lots of Jesus, please pass the hat, send home the women and children because the minstrel show is about to begin...and hey, sir, here's some snake oil...it'll cure what ails ya...cash only, please...

Welcome to 21st century American politics, Republican-style.

I am sick at heart - sick down to the deepest roots of my soul - of treating this as rational, as logical, as anything other than utter and complete derangement. We are in a full mess, friends and neighbors, and pretending gravity doesn't exist beyond the will of God isn't going to cut it in the voting booth from here on out. I have all the sympathy in the world for those who have been scammed, conned and taken advantage of, but I am all the way done with living in a country run by the professionally duped.

If your upbringing or pastor or background or whatever leads you to hate total strangers because of who they love, where they live, what they look like, how they worship or if they worship, if you have devoted yourself to an 'Us' or 'Them' mentality and refuse to abandon such poison, if you have no ears to hear, but instead choose to pursue a course of vitriol and division, here is a truth: you [will not be allowed to drag our country back into the dark ages]. We are large, we contain multitudes, and yours is a course of dissolution and despair.

Cast aside your furious obedience. Freedom begins with a "No."

It is enough.

PLAYING WITH FIRE by Stephen Pizzo

You know that something is seriously out of whack when those who made a bundle, and then some, with financial black magic, nearly bringing down the entire industrial world, insist they be allowed to not only keep their booty but that the 99% who ate it in the shorts thanks to their skullduggery, should be forced to go on a fiscal diet. ("You want more porridge?!")

That, in a nutshell, describes the so-called "austerity" programs sweeping western economies.

Even liberal politicians are caving into this mind-bending logic. Give less to those who already have less, while making sure those with the most are allowed to keep more of whatever they can milk out of the system in the future.

I gotta tell ya folks, this stuff ranks right up there with other conservative nostrums such as:

  • To reduce the deficit, slash taxes.
  • War is the path to peace.
  • For a bright energy future, "Drill baby, drill."
  • The right way to deal with climate change is to ignore it.

The austerity theory of recovery has two pieces to it. First, of course, everyone except the rich need to tighten their belts another few notches.

The second part involves the opposite for the rich. It goes like this:

"The more money you allow the rich to keep for themselves by not taxing it, the more jobs they create."

Really? So we are supposed to believe, for example that Apple Computer would not have become what it is today if it's founder, Steve Jobs, had only been allowed to amass a multi-million dollar personal fortune, rather than a multi-billion dollar fortune? Or that Facebook would not have become a company worth billions if its founder, young Mark Zuckerberg, had only been incentivized by being allowed to amass hundreds of millions dollars in his personal checking account, rather than billions?

Really? Is that it? That's the reason why everyone else needs to tighten their belts now? Because a few dozen future entrepreneurs will need a multi-billion dollar carrot at the end of the career-path stick because they just won't settle for a few hundred mil?

Now don't get me wrong. I've run a few of my own small businesses, and I know it's not that simple. Companies require operating income, capital investment money for future growth, etc. And I am not suggesting businesses per se be taxed so much they can't grow or even survive. But money spent on such things is already tax deductible as a business expense. What I am talking about here is personal wealth - and how it's taxed.

The austerity movement is not only unwise and grossly unfair, but nations adopting it are playing with fire. It's the ever so thinly disguised 21st-century version of "Let-em eat cake."

It's a slap in the face to populations which have already had the fiscal crap beat out of them. It's an affront, an insult implying that somehow the rest of us are at fault for all this and deserving of being taught a lesson. (Bad serfs, bad!)

Speaking of the French revolution, the French just threw one of these austerity-fascists out of office and elected a socialist President.

Austerity is a dirty word in Europe but what next?

The Greeks are itching to do the same. Italians will, as they have forever, just ignore the whole thing and keep doing whatever they hell they want, though they did finally toss out their modern-day Nero, Silvio Berlusconi.

Still the momentum continues to favor austerity, punishing the already punished while rewarding the actual fiscal muggers.

Economists use a term to describe this kind of perverse incentive: moral hazard. In layperson's language it means creating a dynamic where, for a few, the rules are, "Heads we win. Tails someone else loses."

The austerity movement is the Mother of All Moral Hazards. And, this time around, the losers see it, feel it, and are in an ugly mood about it. Those in power who continue pushing austerity for their monied interests are playing with fire.

And, unless a genuinely fair and balance program of shared sacrifice doesn't appear, and soon, there will be fire.

Santorum's endorsement of Romney: Andy Borowitz

Why Mitt Romney is No Longer the Worst Person in America to Run for President

An Endorsement from Rick Santorum

NEW YORK (The Borowitz Report) - The following open letter to America was published today by former Pennsylvania Senator Rick Santorum:

My Fellow Americans:

I am writing to you today to endorse Mitt Romney for President of the United States.

Now, some of you may recall that during the campaign, I took a slightly different position on Mitt Romney.  In fact, I said that Mitt Romney was the worst person in America to run against Barack Obama for President.  Well, there’s nothing wrong with changing your mind.  In fact, as Mitt Romney himself has proved, changing your mind is the surest path to the Republican nomination.  LOL.

Why do I no longer think Mitt Romney is the worst person to run for President?  Well, I started thinking about that Jet Blue pilot who went off his nut a few weeks ago and had to be tackled by passengers.  That dude would definitely be a worse person to run for President than Mitt Romney.  Say what you will about Mitt Romney and how he made his fortune by putting thousands of people out of work and how he invented Obamacare before Obama did and all, he has never jeopardized the lives of people on an airplane (that I know of).  That is probably because he flies everywhere on a private jet, staffed entirely by undocumented workers.

I also started thinking about Michael Vick.  He was involved in some of the most despicable acts in recent memory, involving the deaths of multiple dogs.  Mitt Romney, on the other hand, has only endangered the life of one dog, his own, and he didn’t actually kill the dog, he just literally scared the shit out of it.  So if you compare Mitt Romney to someone who has actually been responsible for the killing of dogs and not just scaring them to death, I would have to say Michael Vick would be slightly worse than him (although in some ways slightly better, since Michael Vick did not create Obamacare or have gays on his staff).

In conclusion, my fellow Americans, Mitt Romney is a total douche.  No one’s arguing that he isn’t. But if you compare him to either the insane Jet Blue guy or a heartless dog-killer like Michael Vick, Mitt Romney is no longer the worst person in America to run for President.  I should add, however, that if anything should happen to Mitt Romney between now and November, such as him getting trapped in his Swiss bank vault with all his ill-gotten money and tragically suffocating to death, I stand ready and willing to be your nominee.  Plus I am an actual Christian who does not believe in magic underpants.

Vote for Romney,

Rick Santorum

Fukushima #4 reactor at risk of catastrophic failure -- dwarfing Chernobyl disaster. Human civilization at risk.

You will only hear about this on alternative news sites. Mainstream news is telling us NOTHING about this.  They don't want panic in the streets (neither do I -- but I think people deserve to know the truth about what is happening in our world).  In the meantime, western world governments are continuing with underground building (mysterious shaking and booms being heard in towns across the western world) -- possibly massive bunkers/cities for the elite to hide out in should Reactor #4 collapse?).  I pray the worst will not happen, but think we should be made aware of the possibilities of events that can affect us all.

This is exactly the kind of nuclear disaster Helen Caldicott predicted and was warning about in the '70s and '80s -- and why women back then were going to Washington to beg our Congressional representatives to pay attention and make changes in our policies before it was too late.  I was one of these women back in 1982, connected with a group called Women's Strike for Peace. When we related our concerns to the senators and congressmen, they gave us patronizing smiles,
dismissively patted us on the head and told us to go home and not worry -- to bake cookies in our kitchens -- and leave the safety of our world to them.  Well -- you can see what a fine job they have done.

The saddest thing is no one seems to know what we can do about this disaster-on-the-brink. Maybe in this case it's true that "ignorance is bliss"--so if you would rather not know or think about this, please delete -- from your e-mail and from your mind, if possible.

From Natural News: (www.naturalnews.com)

I'm interrupting our normal email schedule to bring you an urgent alert that makes everything else seem insignificant by comparison.

The issues of GMOs, fluoride, food freedom and vaccines won't matter at all if we don't solve this far bigger issue that threatens human civilization: Fukushima reactor No. 4.

Right now, the reactor's spent fuel pool is just one earthquake away from a structural failure that could set off a chain of events leading to the release of anywhere from 10 times to 85 times the Cesium-137 released in the Chernobyl disaster.

Such circumstances caused one of Japan's former ambassadors to make the following extraordinary statement:

"It is no exaggeration to say that the fate of Japan and the whole world depends on No. 4 reactor." - Mitsuhei Murata, Former Japanese Ambassador to Switzerland and Senegal, Executive Director, the Japan Society for Global System and Ethics.

A failure of the reactor -- and the subsequent catastrophic release of Cesium-137 -- would decimate human life across North America, killing off crops, polluting groundwater, causing widespread infant stillbirths and unleashing an explosion in cancer rates. North America could become uninhabitable by humans for centuries.

Cesium-137 has a half-life of 30 years, meaning that if North America is blanketed with a layer of radioactive dust in 2012, that radioactivity will still be half as strong in the year 2042. It will drop by half again by the year 2072. By the year 2102, it might be low enough to where humans could start to re-colonize the continent, but even then, rates of cancer and birth defects would likely be off the charts.

Yet, as we speak, the mainstream media is running a total media blackout on this story. Governments are pretending there is no problem, and the corporations that built these nuclear facilities (like GE) are quietly running disinfo campaigns to convince everybody there is no problem.

I've just published an urgent feature story on this issue, outlining the facts about Fukushima reactor No. 4:
http://www.naturalnews.com/035789_Fukushima_Cesium-137_Plume-Gate.html

I've also reprinted an urgent press release from a coalition of organizations calling for urgent UN intervention to deal with Fukushima before it kills us all:
http://www.naturalnews.com/035788_Fukushima_United_Nations_radiation.html

I'm urging you to forward and share these stories and help raise the alarm. Nothing else is important anymore. It doesn't matter who is running for President, what's in the vaccines, or whether GMOs are labeled if our civilization is dead from radiation!

NaturalNews is shifting our editorial priorities to focus on Fukushima. All other stories are being made secondary to this urgent issue.

I'm also recording a "radiation survival 101" audio program today, to be included as a downloadable bonus item in my upcoming "Preparedness Defense" LIVE event happening Tuesday evening. A small number of seats remain available, and even those will likely be sold out by tonight. Register at:

www.HealthRangerLIVE.com

I'm assigning coverage of Fukushima to our staff writers and investigators, so expect to see a lot more reporting on Fukushima until (and if) this Reactor No. 4 problem is properly addressed.

In the mean time, just one earthquake in Japan could unleash the worst-case scenario, sending a massive plume of Cesium-137 headed directly at North America. The fate of our world now rests on the unpredictability of Pacific Rim earthquakes! This is a stupidly risky roll of the dice we've all walked into, and if we don't make it, future archeologists will one day discover a fine layer of Cesium-137 dust followed by a global mass extinction event.

Nothing else is important compared to this. We either solve the Fukushima situation -- and then eliminate ALL nuclear power plants on the planet -- or we carve our own graves in the sad, pathetic history of an arrogant civilization "suicided" by corporate-run science.

Pray for our world today. We may have already killed ourselves with stupidity.

Fukushima reactor No. 4 vulnerable to catastrophic collapse; could unleash 85 times Cesium-137 radiation of Chernobyl; human civilization on the brink
(NaturalNews) The news you are about to read puts everything else in the category of "insignificant" by comparison. Concerned about the 2012 U.S. presidential election? Worried about GMOs? Fluoride? Vaccines? Secret prisons? None of that even matters...

Fukushima reactor 4 requires urgent intervention; coalition calls for emergency UN action to halt catastrophic release of radiation
(NaturalNews) Kyoto, Japan -- On 30 April, seventy-two Japanese NGO organizations lead by Shut Tomari and Green Action send an urgent request to the UN and Japanese government urging immediate action to stabilize the Fukushima Daiichi Nuclear Power Plant...

We'll never get Truth from Power

Osama, Obama, and US -- A Shocking Display of Propaganda from NBC
By Russ Baker

When I got an email announcing an exclusive from NBC about the raid that, we’re told, resulted in the death of Osama bin Laden, I dared raise my hopes. The last time a major media organization, the New Yorker, had promised us the inside story about what really happened on that day in early May, 2011, we got a major bit of disinformation.
But, being an optimist, I set my TV to record the hour on NBC’s newsmagazine show, Rock Center, and went out to dinner. When I returned, I settled in and began watching.

I heard the dramatic music, and listened to correspondent Brian Williams’s dramatic intro. Then I began waiting for answers. I waited. And waited. The answers never came. Can you believe an entire hour (or about half an hour plus endless ads) and not one interesting revelation? Can you believe that almost the entire thing dealt with how people in the White House felt that day, what kind of chairs they sat in, etc, and almost nothing on the details of the raid or the disposition of the body? Even the details that sounded vaguely interesting, like the fact that the chopper that crashed was some kind of new, secret craft, were already known long ago.

I got a feeling that the whole thing had been carefully rehearsed, and then I thought: Why would the White House give NBC an exclusive, “first-time” look inside the White House Situation Room? Well, in part because it’s just a room with chairs and flat screen TVs—absolutely nothing interesting. But why even offer this purported exclusive insight into the raid? Because it was nothing of the sort. Because it was propaganda to make these people look good, to quell reasonable doubts about what really happened that day, and to get the president and his team re-elected.

That’s it. If you would like to judge this yourself, be my guest. Here’s the show, blessedly without most of the ads:

Did you see Williams asking any of the scores of questions one might ask: about how no one in that crashed helicopter was hurt; about whether Osama was armed, and if not, then why he had to be killed instead of captured and interrogated for the valuable information he could offer; about how and why the SEALs’ headcams purportedly failed at the critical moment and prevented the White House group from seeing what was going on; about why the body had to be thrown in the sea—and before proper DNA verification was possible; about the wildly conflicting accounts of what took place and the White House’s failure to this moment to explain; about…I could go on and on. But we’ve already laid all that out—you can read those questions here.
Probably the only interesting thing in the entire report was that Vice President Biden fingers a rosary bead when he’s nervous—or maybe that they ordered in pizza while waiting for the raid.

The lesson that NBC is kind enough to offer seems to be this: We’re further than ever from having public officials who level with us, and we’re further than ever from having large news organizations that….do actual journalism. (On a tenth of Brian Williams’ salary, WhoWhatWhy could field a whole team of real journalists who ask real questions.)

Oh, and one more lesson—that all those people must think we’re really, really, stupid.

Hope NBC reports this as an in-kind donation to the Obama campaign.

Romney Pays Surprise Visit to his Money in the Caymans

No Timetable for Withdrawal, Says Presumptive Nominee

CAYMAN ISLANDS (The Borowitz Report) - In an uncharacteristically emotional scene for the presumptive GOP nominee, Mitt Romney today paid a surprise visit to his money in the Cayman Islands.

Speaking in a bank vault surrounded by stacks of cash, Mr. Romney praised his money for "the brave work you have done in the never-ending fight for freedom from Federal income tax."

"Thanks to your hard work, losers around the world are envious of me," he added.  "For that I salute you."

Stressing that his money's mission in the Caymans was "far from over," he refused to set any timetable for withdrawal.

In a reference to his bid for the Presidency, Mr. Romney told his money, "It would be an honor and a privilege to have my face on you someday."

After plunging into the stacks of cash to touch many of the dollar bills individually, Mr. Romney boarded his private jet to pay a surprise visit to Switzerland.

Shameful Republican Party

http://www.washingtonpost.com/blogs/right-turn/post/exclusive-richard-grenell-hounded-from-romney-campaign-by-anti-gay-conservatives/2012/05/01/gIQAccGcuT_blog.html

Wouldn't it be great if Republicans would come into the 21st century, instead of hovering around the 14th on social issues?  It is shameful that they don't accept gay and women's rights.  The attacking behavior that some of them display in hounding gays and supporters of women's rights is beyond ignorance -- it is blatantly ugly and stupid.

Fukushima on Steroids: “Japan is in the Process of Contaminating the Entire Pacific Ocean”

By Dr. Mark Sircus
theintelhub.com

April 30, 2012

I wish everything I am reporting on were not true, or at least were less true than it appears. It does seem that Japan is in the process of contaminating the entire Pacific Ocean via continued uncontrolled releases of radioactivity at Fukushima.

After low-balling initial estimates of radiation releases, the Japanese authorities now acknowledge that substantial amounts of radioactive material leaked from the crippled Fukushima Dai-Ichi reactors.[1]

The nuclear disaster in Japan has released radioactive isotopes that have poisoned the country’s soil, food, and water.

The fallout is being rapidly taken up by living things and passed up the food chain with airborne radioactive isotopes reaching around the world but especially in the northern hemisphere where most of the radioactive particles will settle.

Most Americans have no idea what is happening. But within days of the accident at Fukushima radioactive contaminants were detected at monitoring stations in the Pacific Coast states.

Nearly 1% of the “hot” sulfur released from the plant is estimated to have traversed the Pacific to reach southern California beaches.[2]

I don’t think anyone was really ever that happy about nuclear power and nuclear weapons but a lot of money and power were concentrated in the nuclear industry.

Many of these people are riding around in limos today very happy with their luxurious lifestyle as the planet quickly becomes more contaminated.

Private companies are abandoning ship from the nuclear industry because the nuclear news is bad no matter how you look at it. And worse, others still in are headed for bad financial doom.

According to a recent article in the New York Times, the operators of 20 U.S. nuclear reactors—including some with licenses that expire soon—do not have sufficient funding for prompt dismantling.

If these reactors can’t keep working, their owners “intend to let them sit like industrial relics for 20 to 60 years or even longer while interest accrues in the reactors’ retirement accounts.”

Within the next 15 years as many as 100 industry-standard 900 MW nuclear reactors, concentrated in the “old nuclear” countries will have to be decommissioned, dismantled and made safe, which is impossible when it comes to nuclear plants and their dirty waste products.

Human stupidity and arrogance has really boomeranged on us in the arena of nuclear power.

It is extremely difficult and painful to entertain the thought that the future of the northern hemisphere—and perhaps even the habitability of the entire planet—is being brought into question. I am not a lone wolf saying this anymore for the story has touched the edge of the mainstream.

The story of the nuclear waste pools was just published in the Huffington Post. I imagine many do read that publication and what they read there should shake people up pretty good.

Pools are 100 feet above the ground and are completely
open to the atmosphere because the reactor buildings were
demolished by explosions. The pools could possibly topple or collapse
from structural damage coupled with another powerful earthquake.
Huffington Post

“The urgency of the situation is underscored by the ongoing seismic activity where 13 earthquakes of magnitude 4.0-5.7 have occurred off the northeast coast of Japan between April 14 and 17.

This has been the norm since the first quake and tsunami hit the Dai-Ichi site on March 11 of last year. Larger quakes are expected closer to the power plant,” continues the Huffington Post.

If an earthquake or other event were to cause this pool to drain, this could result in a catastrophic radiological fire that could wipe out most of the northern hemisphere; certainly it would be a massive civilization-breaking event some are suggesting.

Amazingly this is not the only nuclear situation going on. There is a new scare:

Two blasts at a chemical plant in western Japan killed one worker and injured at least 22 others on the 22nd of April. The explosions and fire occurred at a factory operated by comprehensive chemical manufacturer Mitsui Chemicals in Yamaguchi Prefecture, an official at Yamaguchi prefectural police said.

The complex is still on fire, and supposedly 3379 units of radioactive waste(200L in each unit) and uranium for nuclear fuel are preserved in the site.

One of the two missing workers was found dead, nine workers injured, and three residents in the area were also injured (cuts from broken glass). The prefectural government does say the depleted uranium is stored at the complex, but there has been no release of toxic materials from the fire, according to the prefectural government.

Some, on the other hand, are saying that a cloud of depleted uranium is heading towards Hawaii and west coast of the USA. How they would know that I do not know.

Well we have had that before, when the government used depleted uranium in its middle-eastern wars, and no one said anything about it so why would we expect it to be anything different now?

Biological Tipping Points

Are we going to wait until the emergency departments are overwhelmed with patients suffering from radiation sickness before we begin to get alarmed? In reality we really have no idea what is actually going to happen since such events have never happened before—not like this.

Every toxic exposure increases people’s vulnerability to radiation. Toxic accumulation, whether from heavy metals, chemicals, pesticides, food additives or preservatives, etc., will each take their toll, weakening our resistance to, or ability to clear radioactive particles from, our bodies.

The human herd has already been vastly weakened by vaccines containing nasty preservatives and other chemicals.

Our dentists have clobbered us with mercury fillings inches from our brains. The air is foul, the water is treated with poisons like fluoride, and many report that the air is full of chemtrails.

The list is endless but especially telling is the tonnage of mercury put into the atmosphere each and every day by the coal-fired electrical plants of the world.

Britain’s most senior accident and emergency doctor told the The Telegraph that weeks of intense pressures had left casualty departments “overwhelmed” with patients.

He said desperately sick people had been left for hours waiting on trolleys, with even those requiring intensive care enduring long delays.

Dozens of National Health Service units have in Britain have cancelled surgery and clinics for outpatients. At least 10 major centers issued “black alerts”—the highest emergency warning—meaning they were at breaking point.

For a large number of reasons it will not be long before modern medicine will be overwhelmed. Allopathic doctors will come up short not knowing what to do since pharmaceuticals just add more toxicity to the mix.

At Chernobyl no spent-fuel
pools were destroyed.

We all are just beginning to grasp that the danger. Technically it boils down to the fact that it’s the irradiated nuclear fuel stored in spent-fuel pools amidst the reactor ruins that are posing the greatest danger.

I have people writing to me telling me that the problem is astronomically vaster than Chernobyl in both complexity and quantity of substances released and that the total amounts of radiation being reported are way too low.

Here I am freaking out that we are at risk for something in the order of the 85 times the radiation of Chernobyl and I hear it could be much worse than that because of the plutonium factor.

I wrote Nuclear Toxicity Syndrome and the second edition of Iodine to address the radioactive dangers we face. We have not only ignored the heavy metal and chemical situation but also radiation exposure—all this adding up to a hugely perilous predicament.
